The State of Oregon has legalized medical marijuana and currently has nearly 40,000 people enrolled in its voter-approved medical-marijuana program. They say that law enforcement must take action because the system violates federal law and is "putting marijuana in the hands of more and more healthy kids." Source: Seattle's Daily Weekly

"Law Enforcement Against Prohibition is an international organization of criminal justice professionals who bear personal witness to the wasteful futility and harms of our current drug policies. Our experience on the front lines of the “war on drugs” has led us to call for a repeal of prohibition and its replacement with a tight system of legalized regulation, which will effectively cripple the violent cartels and street dealers who control the current illegal market."
Yeah, thanks for the other side of the argument. I worry about pot heads eventually running this country. It's bad enough when you have liars.
You left out this part from the Seattle article:
You left out this part of the Seattle article;
What's more, according to a 2008 study by the Marijuana Policy Project, the declines in teenage marijuana use are even more pronounced in states that allow medical pot. "No state with a medical marijuana law has experienced an increase in youth marijuana use since their law's enactment," the research found. "In fact, all states have reported overall decreases--exceeding 50 percent in some age groups--strongly suggesting that enactment of state medical marijuana laws does not increase teen marijuana use."
In Oregon specifically, the pot-smoking trends "are slightly less favorable than nationwide trends, although teen use is still down overall." The study, which relied on data provided by the Oregon Department of Health, found that among more than 20,000 eighth and 11th graders, pot use declined across the board--and up to 33 percent in some demographics--between 1998 and 2007.
Hey Lynn, I'm more worried about our country being run by a bunch of alcoholics and prescription drug addicts ... Oh wait, those are legal, so it's ok to kill tens of thousands of people.
Hey Weetha, how many deaths were there over the last decade from marijuana?
Oh ya, one more thing. Our Great Nation was founded by pot heads. The Constitution is written on hemp paper and the framers planned the revolution over a few tokes.
So you got any legitimate reasons not to LEGALIZE IT????
