What was really interesting at the last city commission meeting was the mayor announcing that there would be two community meetings before the election:

The commission's timing is always perfect...
First the mayor had her State of the City address, then on February 2 Michael Bornstein earned his paycheck by putting out a letter on Code Enforcement. And now the above community meetings have been scheduled before the election so that they can tell everyone how they are moving the city forward.
This really is campaigning, folks, no matter what you want to call it. We are always worrying about transparency--well this is extremely "transparent." Political ploys that make you go "hmmm."

Hopefully someone questions the cost of the electric conversion and yet another change in mgmt and so another change is direction (it's coming). Where will the money come from. Question the employee turnover, employee disengagement, replacing meters that had just been replaced. So much $ spent unnecessarily. We lost the people who really knew how to run a water and electric utility due to the leadership of our mgmt and commission believing they know more than the experts who are running the departments. Constant turnover in Finance, Electric and Water departments in all phases so 0 consistency. We need more than just spending $ we need good leadership
I know for a fact the electric utility department has been planning these meetings for a long time. It has nothing to do with an election. Do you want the city to just stand still until March 15th?
Of course, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the election. LOL.

Transparency??
First of all Annon 10:32 if you know so much then why is it such a secret. Alot of $ has been spent on converting the system now they want to completely change the direction. We residents deserve to know all the secrets going on behind closed doors
...moving "Forward"...
What does it mean when they say,
"We are moving FORWARD"...
Forward can be any direction depending
on where you start from. Forward can be
backward if two people are moving forward
in different directions.
A great example was LW 2020 & the Park of
Commerce. Many from both sides said "Our
streets 1st" and that was 'forward' for a
LARGE Majority including those FOR the bond.
So what did the trio on the dais do? IGNORED
we the people and pushed forward w/the POC!
That is backwards and for property we do not
own - worse than 'shiny things', definitely
NOT MEAT & POTATOES and a real "Field of Dreams"
Build it and they will come - but the promised taxes
will take more then our lifetimes to be realized.
Then there's the sticky part about 'job creation'.
The numbers are made up and wishful at best. Look
how much work the city gives to companies that
are not anywhere near lw! The sign company listed
PA address & tele #. Andy said $25K/paper said $30K
for the work presented at the 1.19.16 city meeting
but what many do not know is the CRA has listed in
their budget totals out to $157,000.00 thru 2016 for
way_finding signage! Andy reminded us there is NO MONEY
for the SIGNS so tell us again what the $157K has been
or will be used for?
Anonymous @3:03........no secret meetings you just haven't paid attention. The city is trying to be transparent and you still beat them up. Give me a break! Community meetings should be applauded not defended.
Community meetings are nice to have throughout the year, not just one month before an election. Don't be such a horses' azz.

RULE 1
SCHEDULING OF MEETINGS AND WORK SESSIONS
(4) “District Public Forums” may be held
by the City Commission on a quarterly basis,
one to be held in each district of the City
on a rotating basis. Notice of such meetings
shall be posted no less than 14 days before
each meeting. No official action shall be taken
at these meetings.
I have begged for open mic (townhall) “District Public Forums”
for years till it was just too embarrassing to beg
any more! This is the way to hear WHAT WE WANT
and not before an election telling us what we
are getting! Ask; Do Not Tell! There are NO
COMMUNITY Meetings that are not controlled by
select info and not 'of by & for the people'!
Think they will tell the public moving 'FORWARD'
is basically wasting money replacing stuff that
has been recently replaced? I believe there is
still stock on the shelves...and forward they
go in a totally different direction wasting
taxpayer money!
I love how City won't hold meetings or workshops on things it should, love how the City cancels commission meetings over and over again, until right before an election.
The game playing is sooooo obvious its ridiculous.
All these debates are being held by the various neighborhood associations that's.a good thing. Did I heard that Vernon Heights was gonna have another one? When? I heard last night that it was tonight but there's a commission workshop tonight and that Diane Jacques is finally showing up for another debate and I want to see what she has to offer. Now someone told me the debate is next week so I'm confused when it's happening.
I think community meetings are a great way to get info to residents, I also think these two meetings announced at the last commission meeting were planned well before that despite it being advantageous to hold these community meetings before an election the fact remains a) they are happening and b) most people are not interested in the going on in their community until a election is on the horizon so maybe they'll show up.
