Lake Worth paying too much for signs
I am a 20-plus-years experienced graphic designer, and I am appalled at the signage that the City of Lake Worth’s Community Redevelopment Agency paid for (“City weighs new signs, branding effort”; Jan. 28).
First, it is ridiculous to me that with all the talent in South Florida, they solicited a company in Pennsylvania to design the signs. Second, the budget is way out for the simplistic, amateurish typesetting and graphic work. There are many ways to format a sign to make it legible and easily understood.
The article also mentions branding and an image for Lake Worth. In this area, they really missed the mark; it couldn’t be more generic. What a waste of $30,000.
