Common Ground Church keeps praying for Lake Worth

Comment Up

Common Ground Church held its regular Sunday service this morning at 10am.
Commandment number 9 is something that the Bully Blogger does not adhere to--just ignores it over and over again. Yesterday, he made up a graphic with a message that is attributed to me.  It is totally FALSE. It is a lie.

Pastor Mike Olive prayed for the city and the usual provocateurs who spew hate and lies. Next Sunday he WILL be addressing gay marriage and everyone is invited to the Common Ground Church to hear his sermon on love and truth, not lies and hate, and the message from the scriptures. Come on down to 12 South J Street.
Following the service, church members went to the Lake Worth beach as three were being Baptized.

We're supposed to love this guy? I don't think so. If I want to read fantasy, I go to the library. He's just a wise apple.

3:28 Sounds like someone who has NOT met pastor mike.

haha, I believe that John was probably talking about Wes Blackman, not the Pastor.

We can all use some self-improvement !!

I saw pastor mike at the vigil the AME Grace Chapel held two nights after the awful massacre of the 9 in Charleston. He was busy glad handing and a bit opportunistic among those who simply wanted to be respectful and supportive.

I really thought his motives were self inflating. But I'm glad he and others went, and I know it meant a lot to the AME church folks and community al large.

@6:11...I really do believe that you should talk to Pastor Mike one on one. You really need to understand him...you don't. To make a judgment as you did, is unfair and baseless. Look to yourself if you have a problem like that. I hope that you will visit his church and listen to what he has to say. He is out-going, friendly and preaches nothing but love.

Thanks for posting the Ten Commandments, Lynn. I needed a reminder. The world would be a better place if everybody worked hard every day at obeying these.

Sounds like Szerdi at 6:11. Pastor Mike Olive self-inflating? If he was shaking hands at the AME church, its because its his JOB as a pastor to REACH OUT from himself. If he wanted to inflate himself, I don't think he would have decided to dedicate his life to the teachings of Christ and ministering to forgotten souls here in Lake Worth. Let me ask: What have YOU done lately for the less fortunate in our community?? Do you feed them? Help them find work? Do you talk to them? Do you walk with them??

When we speak publicly, we open ourselves up to both public praise and public criticism. Everybody has that right and opportunity. But when we use that opportunity to call people out, we must understand that we are risking aggravating the situation.

I am speaking for my own benefit about this as well. I deeply regret the many times that I have violated the guidelines below and the damage that resulted.

How to avoid escalation of a conflict:
1. Never pre-emptively attack.
2. Never retaliate.
3. Say as much good about your adversaries as you can.
4. Be clear about specific actions that people took (past-tense only) that bothered you.
5. Never call people out publicly unless you have done EVERYTHING in your power to resolve the matter privately. (See Matthew 18)
6. Never call people out publicly unless you have other people who are actively and publicly holding you accountable (meaning that your relationship to them is easily verifiable using public sources and in that relationship it is clear that they have the power to reprimand you if you behave inappropriately) for such action.
7. Never speak out against anyone's sin unless you are simultaneously being honest about your own (current) sinfulness.

It's time to stop blaming each other when our worst enemy is our own evil desire. (See John 8, Matthew 7, James 1:14)

The reason Jesus called people out was because He had His Father in heaven providing the accountability I described earlier. (See http://bible.com/72/luk.3.22.hcsb)

If anyone thinks they are so perfect that they don't need God's grace on a continual basis, I take that as a sign that no amount of grace will do them any good because they put so much trust in their theology. They are like the people of Nazareth, lacking faith and limiting God's power in their midst. (See http://bible.com/72/mat.13.54-58.hcsb)
