Lake Worth Park of Commerce will NOT get State money

Comment Up

Today, Gov. Rick Scott vetoed $461.4 million (Go to number 1927 in provided link) in spending from the $78.7 billion state budget approved by the Legislature last week, erasing dozens of local programs and projects sought by elected officials.

The Visionaries took a big hit when Scott erased $3.5 million from the Park of Commerce.

will we get a rebate from our lobbyist for failing to bring home the bacon?

So much for Scott, Pam and Andy and all the wasted money traveling to Tallahassee. The lobbyist? Right. Rick Scott just has more sense.

Yippee, let's celebrate the fact that LW isn't getting $3.5M because you know we don't need it. And yes, our commissioners are terrible representatives for trying to bring money and improvements to LW.

You DON'T NEED IT, anonymous. You just WANT IT. Improvements to Lake Worth? What about the potholes. Big difference in NEED and WANT and it just shows that someone in control isn't spending tax payer money on some piece of dirt to attract private developers. I am just surprised that the two Republicans on the dais just won't understand WANT and NEED either.

Too bad. If we could get state money for this project that means less burden on local, already overburdened, city tax payers. The city is going to continue to push this project, so the downside of no or reduced state money is that city will have to come up with more money (which we don't have) to move forward.

there are only 3 NEEDS in life - food, water, and sleep. Everything else is a want, so someone's want to have their potholes fixed vs my want to have my potholes fixed are the same wants. I guess under your theory that there is always somewhere better to spend money means the city should never spend money on anything because there will always be another place it could go. My only point with the comment above is I don't understand why people would be happy the city did not receive money to make improvements. Even if they got the money, does that mean the commissioner would never fix a pothole? Seems pretty small-minded thinking to me, but hey, I WANT a better lake worth, so obviously I'm the crazy one in this pothole of a town. I heard wellington fixes their potholes, might be time to head west, just hope my tires aren't flattened by the potholes on the way out

We need to start spending money on the essentials first. No one is walking around with a grin on their faces because Rick Scott vetoed the POC along with $461 plus other million WANTS. There were MANY cities that were disappointed. Rick Scott wants to operate this state within its means. I agree with that and one reason why I voted for him. In a way, it is too bad LW didn't get it because now they will probably devise a plan to tax us directly. :(

Your moving forward anony at 3:37 is not my idea of moving forward no more than building higher in our downtown or outsourcing our casino.

The park of Commerce is not going to make life better for the average taxpayer in Lake Worth.Stealing the Park of Commerce land from the rightful owners will not make our lives better. Fixing our streets will. Maxwell and comrades tried to sell their 63,000 dollar cash grab on the IMMEDIATE need to fix potholes. What happened? And will 50,000 worth of MORE STUDIES make life better? NO! It's all other people's money to the Pork kings and elected whores with their hands out around the state. BRAVO to the Governor for saying NO! How many POT HOLES could have been fixed by the Tally Travel budgets???

Now they and the CM will want to use the Electric Fund to finance this project as they have found a way to tap into that money. Never ends the way they go about getting what they want and now with their yes man in as Elect Utility Director I am sure we as citizens will see our Electric fund that is so critical to the rebuild go to this project.

The mayor needs to change her party affiliation to Democrat. She has a lot of nerve now saying she will find other means to do what she wants. Remember all of this at election time.

Puhlllleeeassee. Rich Scott doesn't want to run this state within its means, he wants to give tax cuts to the 1%. He cut money from the budget not to balance the budget but to give tax cuts.

Every single resident living in Florida benefits from those tax cuts so take your false propaganda somewhere else.
