When the federal government neglects its responsibility to secure the border, states like Texas have no choice but to step in and handle it themselves. The 84th legislature did just that by passing historic border security legislation. From a record increase in funding to tougher laws, the members responded to Texans' border security concerns in a major way.
National security begins with border security, and border security begins in Texas. I look forward to seeing these new policies in action as they make our state safer.
