Quote of the Day - Mike Huckabee on Gay Marriage

Comment Up
"The Supreme Court has spoken with a very divided voice on something only the Supreme Being can do--redefine marriage. I will not acquiesce to an imperial court any more than our Founders acquiesced to an imperial British monarch. We must resist and reject judicial tyranny, not retreat.

This ruling is not about marriage equality, it's about marriage redefinition. This irrational, unconstitutional rejection of the expressed will of the people in over 30 states will prove to be one of the court's most disastrous decisions, and they have had many. The only outcome worse than this flawed, failed decision would be for the President and Congress, two co-equal branches of government, to surrender in the face of this out-of-control act of unconstitutional, judicial tyranny.

The Supreme Court can no more repeal the laws of nature and nature's God on marriage than it can the law of gravity. Under our Constitution, the court cannot write a law, even though some cowardly politicians will wave the white flag and accept it without realizing that they are failing their sworn duty to reject abuses from the court. If accepted by Congress and this President, this decision will be a serious blow to religious liberty, which is the heart of the First Amendment."

While all you gays are celebrating, Mike Huckabee is right on this and so was Justice Roberts. It's really sad that it wasn't a clear unanimous decision but it was divided like so many things. I could care less if you marry or don't marry. I just don't like seeing an abomination of the United States Constitution. This is a black eye for democracy.

The same argument was made when the Court ruled that separate but equal schools in the south were unconstitutional. If that issue would have been put to a vote the majority through the democratic process would have voted to keep the races separate. John, you should thank God that we live in a country where the rights of the minority are protected by law. To say that this is a black eye for democracy is just not true. No one lost any rights guaranteed to them as a result of this decision but many people gained the right to be treated fairly and equally. How does that hurt anyone?

What does our local expert on the Constitution, "The Constitution Lady" say about this? I'm curious to hear her interpretation of it.

Glad you asked 9:04
There was never any government 'permission' necessary!
To ask for it and have 1/3 of the executive branch trump all other law was a terrible thing to allow to happen! What's next - concealed carry laws apply in every state now by the same thinking/ruling? We must have all states do the same thing? What happens to religious freedom in the 1st amendment, states rights and we the people's voice? Lady Justice is BLIND FOLDED, had a scale and a huge sword by her side - people are people - not B&W, gay or straight, conservative or liberal - we are just people - everybody same same. Special laws allow more special laws till you divide and conquer - history repeating itself and exactly why we got ticked at the king and declared our independence - 4th of July ringing any bells here?
