Lake Worth hires Lobbyist

Comment Up
I was wondering why Richard Pinsky was at our last city commission meeting but as I had to leave after one hour to attend another meeting, I did not learn the reason until lately. Lake Worth just hired lobbyist, Richard Pinsky to represent them in Tallahassee. The contract pays him $2,000 a month from October 1 until May 31, 2015 and dated September 24, 2014, not to exceed $25,000.

Back in October 2010, I wrote about Richard Pinsky and his involvement in Shanon  Materio's BACPAC. He gave $1,000 to Businesses Aligned For Change Political Action Committee which was founded by Shanon Materio, co-owner of McMow Art Glass on North Dixie Highway in order to support "business friendly" candidates or those they felt were on their side of issues. You always need to follow the money. Pinsky is the former husband of West Palm Beach City Commissioner Kimberly Mitchell, a good friend of Shanon Materio who is a good friend of the Lake Worth commission.

Read about Richard Pinsky... who pushed a land buy in West Palm Beach. And you have to wonder where lake Worth is getting all the money to do the following when they essentially told us during the general obligation bond potential money grab that they had NO money.

So now we have Tallahassee lobbyist, Richard Pinsky and a Washington D.C. lobbyist, Alcalde and Fay out of Alexandria, Virginia who we hired in April for $5,000 a month plus expenses.

Also,
The Palm Beach Post reported that Lake Worth will be spending the following:
  • $6 million to upgrade Boutwell Road in the 313-acre Park of Commerce. (Where's that $$ coming from?)
  • $4.8 million to improve Lake and Lucerne avenues to meet the Americans With Disabilities Act.
  • $3.7 million to upgrade sidewalks, roads and water utility equipment near Barton and North Grade Elementary schools.
  • $700,000 to help city code officers demolish or board abandoned buildings.
  • Regulation of sober homes.

We haven't heard one word about the DC lobbyists,,,Have they done anything for LW? Now it looks like Scott gets his way in the Park of commerce by spending $6 million dollars of taxpayer money there. the Go bond is defeated but these commissioners spend the money anyway. It just keeps getting more and more unreal.

Getting more and more unreal because you have a group of commissioners that work tirelessly to improve the city?
I guess the group of people that want to see the city languish feel that way. Good thing you are in the minority.

They do work tirelessly, I am confident of that--going around the votes to get their way? But nevertheless, there has been no discussion about spending $6 mil at the POC. I believe that they LOST the Money Grab BUT, they want it; they get it.

I love the arrogance and it's your money. That doesn't bother you, anonymous at 2:25? Actually, right now, they are in the minority. The voters have told them that.

This is so wrong spending 15,000,000

How do you support your statement anony at 2:25? What exactly has this commission done? How are they improving the city? Because they tell us so? Is that it? You fell for that crap? God bless you and the horse you rode in on.

When and WHO vetted this guy? This stinks!

If fewer than 26 people difference in a city of over 35,000 residents makes you a minority, it's a rather large minority.

Consider the IMPORTANT FACT--you lost and you had 14 times the amount of money.
Next, the heights amendment was won by nearly 57% of the vote. I'm sure you have something pertinent to say about that slaughter. We may have 36,000 residents but less than half are registered to vote. Among that, half are dead people, people who no longer live here, etc.

The City and their Lake Worth Yes PAC sent out a barrage of lies (incomplete facts) for over a month before the vote on the $63 million bond (citizen robbery), but were still unable to overcome the peoples' will, even though many of those who would have been seriously financially damaged by this hare-brained plan were out of town and did not vote.

Post above said, "We may have 36,000 residents but less than half are registered to vote. Among that, half are dead people, people who no longer live here, etc." Maybe then someone on the side that wants to keep LW struggling has figured out how to cast votes for registered voters who are dead or no longer live here.

I read the last list as LW's wish list, not that it was spending the money but rather it would be asking DC or Florida for approval and funding of these projects.
