Well, hit me over the head with a baseball bat--
Even though the Astros and Nationals have twice ruled out John Prince Park as a site for a national ballfield (too small), the City of Lake Worth is still pushing it behind the scenes (at the direction of this Commission other than McVoy) and spending taxpayer dollars for the city attorney to solicit/convince other cities to stand behind Lake Worth in its pursuit to commercialize a beautiful county park. Lake Worth officials get infuriated when they hear the word "no."
Not once did any elected official call anyone in the ROLOH neighborhood that is situated directly across from JPP to discuss this. It certainly is the District 1 commissioner who wants this and is willing to throw this neighborhood (that is in his district) under the bus.. Not once did Shelley Vana call to listen to the ROLOH neighborhood concerns. Not once did Vana call and talk to anyone in Lake Osborne Estates about this. As we don't get any city manager reports and haven't since Michael Bornstein was hired, nor do we hear from the city attorney, we have to wonder what else is happening out of the sunshine.
Talk about putting the cart before the horse--it was only a month ago that the Palm Beach County Commission made a bold move by approving financing for the teams in spite of the fact they had not found a site. It was then that the teams admitted that they had looked at John Prince Park a lot and couldn't figure out how it would work. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn next that Lake Worth paid to have plans drawn up and gave them a set or that the County Commission with Vana now elected as mayor and in her last year before term limits take effect, will hand over the entire park. That could be her last hurrah.

This commission is about the worst we have ever had. Reminds me of Obama wanting his own way and the hell with what the people want. Will anyone run against these bums?

Good Morning, it did come before Council, but Council made a minor revision and took out John Prince Park. I still need the resolution signed by the Mayor but it was approved to support Baseball Training Facility in Palm Beach County.

Dear Juno Beach Can we please swap commissioners with you ? Even for a little while? We here in Lake Worth are stuck with a brain-dead bunch of duds.The next election is too far away for anybodies comfort.

How can people make their opinions heard when they don't even know what is happening?But that was the whole point of Mr. Torcivia's creepy ,silent campaign, wasn't it ? Forgive me but "So what they have been exposed". There is no punishment when the elected or employee's disobey; so we caught them - now what? Make them legislate punishments for themselves? I'll hold my breath for that one...

Apparently Glen Torcivia was hired for his abilities and steadfastness as a lobbyist to push the agenda of the mis-representative Commission now in the seats.
They seem to be obsessed with competing with Delray's Tennis Center.
There are sooo many more things that this town can be doing to generate income and interest with the resources we already have.
There are towns that have festivals once or twice a month, and thpose put the towns on the map. I'm not talking about the evenings on the avenue things. There are tons of antique shops around here. How come we're not known as a destination for that? Several towns in Florida have Highlands festivals; maybe we do and I missed it. Birding festivals (God forbid we might get a couple of lecturers and photographers here). If it doesn't involve tall buildings or massive development, it's a no-go, I guess.
Artists are not what helped Delray. Attracting people to buy the art is what helped Delray, and not even to the extent you might think.
Soon a once-unique downtown (it does have some cool architecture here and there) is going to look like Anytown, USA.
Enjoy it before it's full of chain stores. Urban Outfitters is just the start.

On March 4th, the commission on a 4/1 vote passed Resolution No. 10-2014 - to support a major league baseball training camp at John Prince Park believing it would be an economic boost to Lake Worth.
So, please, know your facts and stop being delusional. You don't know what in hell you're talking about...as usual.
