Lynn, NY went for 187,000 to 258,000 homeless children , I didn't even look at Florida's numbers .
Debi has been mentoring a girl in NY since she was about 8 who has disabled parents ( both deaf and alcoholic's ) and now is 15 yrs old and she is a mess , now her 16 yr old girl friend who is homeless ( parents divorced , unemployed and living from spot to spot) is living with her , so Debi took her in too this summer and put them to work at min. wage around the house , painting , house keeping and what not.
There is very little food at home , so we fed them 2 meals a day all summer, but we made them work and earn it. The worst time of the year is the winter and we are gone , I hate to think what they will go through just food wise.
We can't deal with the people we have and we still have an open border.
