Regulation of Medical Marijuana

[Sunshine State News] A Florida House committee decided to move ahead with one of the strictest proposals to regulate medical marijuana in the Sunshine State on Tuesday, much to the chagrin of pro-pot advocates who have criticized the bill for going against the wants and desires of Florida voters.

By a 14-1 vote, the House Health Quality subcommittee approved a measure which would have widespread limitations on how Florida patients consume medical pot.

And guess what? Not only would smokeable cannabis be banned, but patients would also be barred from buying more than a 90-day supply of marijuana, edibles would be off-limits and “vaping” would only be allowed for terminal patients. Also, licenses can be yanked at any time.

The Lake Worth Commission voted the right way on March 21st when they voted 5/0 to establish a moratorium on applications, confirmation letters, business licenses, development orders and permits involving uses relating to medical marijuana. In spite of the correct vote, one of our Planning & Zoning board members chastised the entire commission on its vote.

Except for the two that were already approved

Well, if the law says that dispensaries are only allowed so many feet apart and so many per population, and so many in the entire state, these two could be in jeopardy. How do we know that they are safe? Isn't that the city's argument against the heights referendum that state law trumps the vote of the people? LOL

Since the 2 in LW will be the only ones around in PBC for the foreseeable future I don't think population or separation will be an issue, guess we will see.

thought I heard Omari say if you wanted it you could go anywhere in the county while the moratorium was on

Well, let's see what happens down the road. Omari did allude to that. :)
