Hello Neighbor,
My name is Ryan Hartman and I'm running for City Commission in Lake Worth. The election is only a few days away and I am acutely aware of the slander that has been printed about me. The misinformation my opponent and the developer-funded PAC—The Committee to Protect Florida are telling about me are sickening, out of context, and a distraction from the serious issues we need to address in Lake Worth. I am writing this letter to set the record straight.
Over the years, I have written letters, spoken at commission meetings, worked with local and federal representatives, and attended protests. Our country has a long, proud history of civil disobedience and I am among many who have been arrested during peaceful protest in the course of effecting change. My acts show my commitment to stand up for what I believe in—equality, safe neighborhoods, protecting the environment, and government that represents the people—not special interests.
Like many people around the country, I have become concerned about the increase in deaths from questionable police shootings. Comments I have made about the police in the heat of the moment were unnecessary and I regret letting my frustrations get the better of me. My goal is to facilitate safer neighborhoods with the support of the PBSO. I understand the importance of keeping our contract with PBSO. I have already met with Captain Baer and Lt. Groover, and shared with them that if elected, I would work with them to improve public safety.
I am running a campaign without funding from developers or outside interests. The volunteers helping me get my message to you are long-time residents who share my vision of a unique city. They support my goals of fixing roads in our neighborhoods, attracting small businesses to create employment for residents, seeing the renovation and re-opening of the historic Gulfstream Hotel as the catalyst for resurgence in tourism, and addressing public safety.
I appreciate the time and consideration you have given my candidacy. I would be honored to serve as your City Commissioner. Please don’t hesitate to call with any questions (561) 255-4147.

Why did he shave his beard, change the kind of clothes he wears, hide his tattoos, basically hiding who he really is. Why does he feel he needs to hide who he really is?
Nice and articulate, however he totally misrepresents himself in saying he has 'attended commission meetings' for years - this is on outright falsehood because I've been at every commission meeting for the last several, and he only showed up for the first time, in his doo rag and beard, last September complaining about the city's conspiracy to remove water fountains and benchs from Bryant Park and threatening to bring us an 'Occupy Movement' protest if we didn't give him what he wants. When the reality was the water fountains and benchs had to be removed because the bums in the park had destroyed them and they had to be replace - on our dime!
He's a flip flopper... And now he wants the Gulfstream Hotel to be renovated? He was just bitching about the heights and development - you can't talk out of both sides of your mouth dude.
Folks in Lake Worth are not stupid, nor are we SHEEP as you like to call us.
You're past performance in activism, your disruptive activities have harmed citizens from Denver, Colorado, to Juno Beach, to Palm Beach Gardens, have all been very well documented across the country and media despite your attempts to shed your identify and behaviors and arrests.
Your anti-police rhetoric is nauseating.
You are a chameleon, and we see thru your veiled attempt to join the mainstream.
ANd now you claim to want to work with the police? That is so laughable.
SAFE PBSO - SAVE LAKE WORTH - SAVE OUR BEACH - SAVE OUR PARKS - CREATE MORE JOBS - VOTE PROVEN LEADERS BACK INTO OFFICE
Let he who is without sin cast the 1st stone...
or how about someone who has never changed their mind & apologized - yeah you - go 1st...
I'd rather MLK civil disobedience than obedience to developers! The donations are there to see who gave to get.
The 2 Ryan posts I saw were about a pedophile cop (Foley texting underage kid - fundraiser for trio and AA EVERY 1/2 hr pee guy exposing himself to kids) and prison guard 'mandingo' style inmate fighting for profit. I bet Seth Adams Family might feel the same way about Bradshaw/PBSO

This is the elephant in the room.
Instead of removing the bad apples
they are allowed to ferment & rot

That way you phrased your first sentence is a misrepresentation of what he said. This is exactly what I mean about the lies coming from you people.
Do not politic on this blog.
Thanks.
Is everyone really clueless about WHY we celebrate
the 4th of July - Independence Day - Why we got
ticked at the King - Declaration of Independence -
am I ringing any liberty bells here?
Abuse of power is not new. It's motivated some of
the greatest people on earth to make a change. We
do not like the bullies we know on the dais and
are willing to get behind a guy (warts and all)
who stands up for what he believes in not what
donating Developers demand.
To ask, one more time,
DO NOT use my blog to politic for incumbents.
This IS AN ADVOCACY blog for candidates for whom I support...not your BS.
Your incumbents have $90,000 in contributions from every Tom, DICK and Hairy Harry out there. You don't need my blog to continue with the crap.
People have heard enough of the BS for 5 years now. Isn't that about enough? Go smoke your own dope.
Hudson Holdings gave the trio 9,000 thru a Tallahassee PAC. Anybody see a problem with this ? Pedophiles like Mark Foley squirting out money for Triolo Maxwell And Amoroso? How close can Foley live to a school? Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso have 100,000 or more to play with on top of the table. The big question is - How much money are they playing with UNDER the table.
I would rather vote for someone willing to lie down in the street and be arrested for what they believe in like Ryan rather than Andy Amoroso, Scott Maxwell and Pam Triolo who meet in in secret.
Why did Scott Maxwell have to resign from Burger King?? Anybody?? Ask a guy who lives on Palm Way that stabbed all his friends in the back when his live in lady/now wife (IDIOT ) told him to.
He will lose by a landslide thank G*d
Did Maxwell invite 300 people to his "victory " party or is he just eating for 300 people ?
It saddens me to see the pettyness of Trio supporters. I personally have a beard. When my brother got married, I shaved it and dressed nice to go to the wedding. When my grandparents died, I shaved it and dressed nice to go to the funerals, when I graduated college, I shaved it and wore nice clothes to go to the ceremony. Ryan Hartman shaved his beard and cut his hair. Furthermore, he has been 100% up front about his opinions and arrests; more than I can say for Maxwell. Hair style, clothing, and tattoos have nothing to do with whether or not someone is a good commissioner. Being racist, taking money from child molesters, and stealing from your job sure do!
Please point out one time that you've ever seen or heard Ryan Hartman say he doesn't want the Gulfstream renovated. One time. This may be confusing to you, but height limits have nothing to do with fixing up and opening a formerly successful hotel.
As far as I've heard Hartman was arrested for trying to block access to a site where FPL wanted to build a nuclear power plant, upstream from a reservation. He was arrested in Denver for peacefully attempting to protect a makeshift kitchen that served meals to the homeless. Can you explain to me how anything he has ever done has hurt people. You're just pulling stuff out of your ass. Who's obtuse now?
Did you ever think that maybe he has attended commission meetings in other cities? Crazy concept, I know, but it could be true.
At least he is upfront with his protests. It is better than lying and cheating people underhandedly. I would still pick him over Amoroso. He least he was supported by someone who likes little boys and prono. He has my vote. He refuses to Pay to Play
Ryan on the Commission would be a disaster for our town.
Btw, the fact that he lives on $333./month does in NO WAY mean he can handle a city budget of millions.
In fact, how does he live on that?
Lynn, I believe you mentioned that you were impressed with his frugality - that it showed fiscal responsibility....seriously?
I'm curious to know if he takes handouts from the government, which he so opposes..hmmm....
Obviously he is resourceful and that is to be admired. I don't know his personal habits or if he has other income than what he mentioned to Ms. Menge.
I disagree with you that he would be a disaster. He is one vote on the commission and will put the people first before any of his own desires. Why do you think he would be a disaster? We already have a disaster. He is college educated, smart and actually likeable with no ego. Get to talk to him without passing judgment like this.
I did look up the link posted for the PAC. It is run be a Mark Herron. Mark Herron was a lawyer for the disgraced Mary McCarty before she was convicted. If anyone doesn't remember, she was sentenced to 5 years for a grand "Pay to Play" scheme in West Palm Beach in the early 2000s. I have to ask if this signifies that he is again ready to defend another grand "Pay to Play" scheme for development in Lake Worth? If that's the case I'd say that certainly puts these allegations in a different light; if you consider the source.
I believe the most salient point here to remember is the source. It is a DEVELPMENT PAC!!! Do we really want even more development money controlling our government??
I was very disappointed to receive today a horrible mailer about Ryan, supposedly copied from facebook. He admits it was in anger. I hope he has learned from this. However, posting on facebook is not a criminal act. PAY TO PLAY is. But first must be prosecuted. I'm an old codger now, but I too demonstrated. I could not see my friends having to die for an unwinnable war for oil while being denied the right to vote. That has now been corrected: if you fight for your country you are able to vote now, and as well the draft has been done away with. Some of our greatest moments and history began with civil disobedience. Including the founding of this great country. And I, too, have more than a few times ranted (in private) about misuse of power by police. How many time do we have to hear that a black man was shot in the back by a policeman "acting in self defense" with no witnesses. And there are numerous phone videos showing excessive and unwarranted force. So there is a problem. By no means does that invalidate all the wonderful police that risk their lives. It still seems there is a systemic problem not being addressed.
I have known Ryan a while, althought not really well. He does not rely on government assistance, and his personal habits are comparable with others, if not better. I have often witnessed Ryan eat, speak, and live with moderation, and decline gifts like candy and drinks at social gatherings. He is not some hedonistic or opportunistic fool, but a dreamer who found a new home. I am very right-wing, but the fact is that our beautiful town is being hijacked by selfish idiots, and regardless of Ryan's politics, he wants what is best for the people of the town, not the visitors with big companies and bank accounts backing them.
@8:57pm...that is very interesting. It shows that there is a big connection with all the money that has been poured into the Trio's campaigns.
To March 7, 7:50 pm - How does Ryan live on $333 a month, the same way a senior citizens lives on $650 a month from SSI. Very carefully. We do not spend our money on foolishness. We spend it on necessities. Only people who have never had hardships would question how some one lives on so little money. There are many in Lake Worth who live on less. There families assist them when they can. You are an arrogant fool.
No supporter of either, but at least Cara didnt hide from being "anti establishment" before, during or after her campaign run.
Anon @ 9:34.
Big difference between $650/month and $333/month.
Rent, utilities, food, transportation, cell phone/computer/internet - that all must cost more than he makes.
Who lives on less that $333/month that doesn't also have help from the government?
I am in no way disparaging those who have little and struggle to get by.
i have gone through times of living paycheck to paycheck.
But his view of life in choosing to live the way he does, poses the question of how well he can relate to the citizens who are not living as he does.
I have a hard time believing that he can be a good representative for all of LW, no matter how nice a guy he may be.
Show me where Cara Jennings ever said that she was "anti-establishment." Anti corruption for sure.
