This is our chance to Stop the Tax Hike.
Tomorrow, the Palm Beach County Commission is considering a major sales tax increase. It’s being pushed by lobbyists and insiders poised to make a fortune off of this bad idea. Their plan would hike the sales tax by a full penny, a 17% increase, to fund a host of unneeded projects that some local officials have called unnecessary.
Be there tomorrow to make your voice heard about this sales tax hike.
There were only three people running in our recent Lake Worth election who wanted this tax hike--Maxwell, Triolo and Amoroso.

Why bother. The County Commissioners are corrupt and in the pocket of the special interests that want this. The people have no chance. Since when have elected officials thought of or listened to their citizens?
Is there a link to how municipalities would divvy up the proceeds to be used for needed infrastructure improvements?
In Palm Beach County, we pay 6 cents more for a gallon of gas than does our neighbors in Martin County. That tax funds our mass transit PalmTran and most likely other things. It seems more fair to fund street projects by this type of tax as it correlates directly to users of the roads.
The last time we voted ourselves a 1/2 cent sales tax increase it was for building of schools. The tax was for a finite period and when it was about to be sun-setted, several groups, memorable of them was the Fire Fighters, wanted to propose keeping it going to fund their operations and increases in pay. It appears they are part of this proposed sales tax increase as well.
If there are too many fingers in the pie, I will most likely vote against it. But it is true, that even tourists help pay for the programs that are funded by these sales taxes.
The more cash coming in, the more back room deals are possible; next, cash falls off the table here in Corruption County.
This regressive tax hurts the poor who barely get by as it is.
The Commissioners who are pushing this live comfortable lives. What do they care if the poor can't buy food or medicine?
Vote the ones who vote for this out when they are up for re-election.
Are representatives fron the Citizens Against Unfair Taxation PAC going to speak at this meeting?
