Jeff Clemens - SB 548

Comment Up

We reported this in January but the Legislative session started again on March 3. Jeff Clemens wants to make it against the law for drivers to smoke in a car with a child under the age of 13. I remember when I was very young, it was not unusual for my grandfather to smoke a cigar or my Mom to smoke a cigarette while we kids were in the car. We always felt car sick. Clemens' bill is moving ahead.

Another way for the nanny state to control your actions and collect fines. Are parents now to travel with their children's birth certificates in hand, ready to prove their age in case of a stop? Bad legislation.

An "Act of Pretended Legislation".

One of the many things we got ticked off at the King for!

"Papers Please" is in 2016 when you can no longer fly w/out Real ID (The one w/the fascial recognition & tracking RFID chip in it) and either get radiated or felt up! Imagine the pedophiles that slip through and get those jobs...and the parents watch strangers do to them & their kids something outside the Airport they would be arrested for!

I agree with the above posters. has Clemens done ANYTHING of substance?? Has he done ANYTHING of real value to the people in Lake Worth and his district? What jobs/money has he brought back ? Speeding ,smoking, driving in certain lanes, now this. The tax collectors with a badge are really going to love him. If Jeff was so concerned about the health of children he would have supported Joey's law. Oh, wait, no tax money to be collected for him and his friends in tally.

I'm happy to see the red light camers finally going away. It has been proven they CAUSE more accidents than prevent. The red light camera industry contributed heavily to Jeff's campaign.

The "feel good" legislation is just like so many more that start with it being a "secondary" offense meaning if the cop stops you for another infraction, he can then ticket you for the "smoking while a child is in car" infraction. Then, just like seat belts, it becomes a money maker and therefore a primary infraction allowing them to pull you over if they see you without the seat belt on or if smoking with a kid in a car seat.

If people are so stupid that they don't know that it is dangerous to the child to smoke in a car they should make it an infraction for them to breed.
