This is now what is happening in our city. A citizen is verbally being drawn and quartered and publicly assassinated because of an alleged use of the N word...no witnesses, no audio, no legal judgment in a court of law--it was all HEARSAY. And now there is direct proof of malice by her accusers.
This entire incident has been embellished beyond belief and even after the city manager took sides in this "he said, she said" and wrote some explosive e-mails, now we have a member of a city board calling for a demonstration at this citizen's property with John Szerdi saying that he will attend. This board member has gone one step further in his pursuit to malign her reputation and defame her, he is now interfering with her civil rights and her livelihood.
This is the group that wants all of us to get along. This is the group that blames everyone else for their circumstances in life and tells us that the roads haven't been fixed in 100 years. This is the group that condemned the Common Ground Church with that same city board member calling for a boycott of the Common Ground Coffee Shop. I for one hope legal action will be taken. It could be YOU next who is maligned on the front page of the Lake Worth Herald that was encouraged by City Hall on a statement that can not be substantiated. You see, in this country, things have to be proved--if not, you can get sued.
Innocent until proven guilty. There is, by law, a presumption of innocence, (the burden of proof is on he who declares, not on he who denies). Have we all forgotten our American principles and the burden of proof? We don't live in Syria.

maybe we do live in Syria and just don't know it. Slum all over the place and crime running wild. They are beheading McNamara and the CM gave the go ahead. Nice people we have in this city.
Amen, Lynn. City Hall doesn't like my opinions very much, thats for sure. When will I, or you, or anybody else that city hall views as an enemy be featured on the front page of the Lake Worth Herald because a city employee tells the editor that we used some inflammatory term? After all ,that's now the standard of proof in this town.

When people do not take a stand against bigots then they think their actions and words are acceptable.
Her Facebook account should be terminated, but not before the Board of Realtors takes a look at it.
To suggest that this is all trumped up just to get at her is ludicrous.

Prove that she said the N word at city hall. You are part of a lynch mob and it makes you no better than the person you believe used the N word.

Lynn the standard of proof you are using to establish justice is only used if you are charged with a crime. Dee did not commit a crime. She was just stupid. Many have heard her say things that are offensive. I'm not sure she realizes what she says some times.
She is being CHARGED in public for hate speech whether it is in a court of law or not.

The few people ranting here are probably the same ones who denied the people the vote on heights. McNamara sued the city on the beach once upon a time. You can't convict someone because you don't like them or you don't like their personality, etc. Freedom of speech. In fact. I don't this saying the N word is that bad. They use it all the time in the hood.

For the 100th time, this has never been whether she said it or not. It's about rights. You, as a liberal, believe it's ok to erode our civil rights in this country, obviously. Enough of our Constitution has been chipped away under Obama. I don't want to see any more injustice in this country especially in LW. Inciting people to a race riot is disgusting based, once again, ON NO PROOF. And even if there was proof, it is illegal. There is freedom of speech in this country.
I didn't like it when Jennings demonstrated against Scott Maxwell years ago either but at least she didn't charge him with racism, or using the N word, etc.

I've been reading all this stuff and Lynn is right. This is nothing more than a public lynching that is based on a staff member reporting it and a comment that no one else can attest to having been said. The best thing is to drop it before the city is sued again.
A great deal of damage has been done -- to a private citizen and to the First Amendment. Who wouldn't be afraid now to say anything to a city staffer that could result in a public lynching. There will be a lawsuit, and there should be. This is just awful, awful, awful.
