- We're going to set this new commission off on the right foot.
- We're going to tell the truth when we sit up here.
- We're not going to distort reality.
- We're not going to massage what you think your version of history was.
all the while raising his voice and pointing his finger at Commissioners McVoy and Maier regarding Maier's request to cancel the Invitation to Negotiate that was set up originally by city manager Michael Bornstein without it coming to the Commission or agreed to in the Sunshine. The mayor referred to it as "secret." And that's the problem. For the Vice Mayor to constantly be disrespectful, not only to these two commissioners but the public as well by accusing them of being racists and liars, is outrageous.
Even former commissioner John Szerdi who suffered a resounding defeat only winning 37.39%, weighed in asking why the pool was not part of the original project. He was not at the meeting in the city chamber the day that city manager Paul Boyer negotiated our pool away over lunch to Greater Bay. Originally, Paul Boyer recommended that we NOT contract with Greater Bay but the arrogant commission in place back then did not listen. Retha Lowe signed the contract as she was sick and tired of that "football" being kicked around for 30 years. (Sick and Tired is an expression used by Lowe and now adopted by Maxwell).
Tuesday night, Szerdi was rude to Commissioner Maier and still visibly upset about losing his election. He compared Maier to a Cheshire cat saying that the rumor regarding our beach and Hudson Holdings was being "spread by the Cheshire." He doesn't understand why he lost. And Scott Maxwell has no clue as to whom is lying and who is not.
The Commission voted to put Maier's request to cancel the ITN on the Agenda. The vote was 3/2 with Triolo and Amoroso dissenting. No public discussion regarding our casino complex was going to be allowed by those two. The public had their 2 minutes to weigh-in (most did not know about this inclusion or even if it would be approved to add to the agenda) and they will have it at some publicly noticed meeting in the future before the commission decides the fate of our casino or approves of any expansion by John Szerdi's employer, Hudson Holdings.

If you would put your energy into caring and were passionate about our city like Scott Maxwell is, instead of vile negative thoughts and distorting reality to an agenda, this would be a better place to live.
LOL, anonymous at 11:10.
You people are losing. Did you EVER consider WHY? No matter what I say, all it takes is that meeting of Tuesday to be passed around town to show everyone how dysfunctional some commissioners are and showing how certain commissioners are not doing their duty to serve the public. No one wants bullies elected in this city.
The pendulum swings one way then the other...They are losing, you are winning, you were losing now your winning. Now that's an awesome plan and outlook for the City. In the end the average everyday, non-blogger, non front row sitting commission, going regulars who don't have the time nor the care will lose, just as they have lost for a hundred years in Lake Worth. Congrats on your temporary winning and so sorry for current losers. It all just stays the same in Lake Worth with short term thinking and short term politics. Whooohooo!
When you see this video of the meeting, it is embarrassing. Can't imagine what Maier thought, his first night on the job. Don't expect any cordiality from these three. You know, when the public is rude, they are escorted out or the mayor yells. When a commissioner does the same thing and bullies and chomps at the bit, he continues on and is allowed to stay in the meeting. Kick him out, mayor.
The pendulum always swings. Developers in control right now. Next year, it will all be over.
The damage that can be sustained by the residents of this city caused by people in office can be lasting for generations. The money that we have wasted, the contracts that we have entered, the money that has gone missing, the lawsuits that have been settled, etc. The pendulum may swing but we are hoping to see much improvement in our city at least starting by this time next year.
Your words of hatred toward Scott Maxwell is only going to inspire him and his supporters to rise up. Keep up the good/bad work
And then back the other way....guess you missed the point
Oh, you're talking about my words of TRUTH. I hope that they do inspire Maxwell to chill out and respect the people. Let's hope that there is a complete turn-around this year and I can believe BarbaraJean when she calls him a big teddy-bear. :) but then we know teddy-bear is the wrong description...
I think Maxi, Amoroso and Triolo are all planning on having very short political careers. Fine with us.
This blog deserves a re-post after that meeting on the beach. Maxwell is such a hypocrite . . . he's the one lying. He's the one distorting the truth and massaging history. Let's hope he's gone next year.
