Christopher McVoy sounds off on "secret" meetings involving the Lake Worth beach

Comment Up

After much discussion about placing commissioner Maier's request to cancel the ITN and put it on the agenda for discussion, it was finally placed on the agenda last night by a 3/2 vote with Mayor Triolo and Commissioner  Amoroso dissenting.  In Maier's mind, it was an emergency for discussion and under the Rules of Procedure, the request to include can be the Friday before the Meeting. The mayor said that she hadn't had time to read it and Amoroso said that the Selection Committee of which he is a member has not made any recommendations on any proposal.

See Channel 12 video.  McVoy demands more transparency.  The word "secret" was never used when talking about the Invitation to Negotiate in September 2014 nor has the word been used since.  There was also no explanation of the word "expand." Now we find out it is all under a cone of silence...everything is secret except what Hudson Holdings wants to tell the public which is, expansion at our Casino and build with a long-term lease thrown in.

The Selection Committee will meet on March 30. If you recall, this is the date that Hudson Holdings said it would know if their proposal will be accepted, only 5 days from now.  The city attorney said that they must hold a public meeting before they make their recommendation.

“There’s been no public discussion, and no public input, and that’s completely inappropriate,” said Commissioner Christopher McVoy. McVoy takes the issue seriously, telling us the meetings, titled an “Invitation to Negotiate” or INT, need to be watched by Lake Worth residents. “There’s a certain amount of private enterprise and that’s fine but it’s a public park and anything that happens there needs to have plenty of time for approval or non-approval by the community.”

...and that public meeting or public hearing could possibly be April 7th (and 21st) with the ITN and we'd get TWO (2) minutes 2x (assuming a 1st & 2nd hearing) to speak on the topic...

So we're talking about 4 minutes total to weigh in on the ENTIRE beach - not just the sand!

Weetha I am not sure what you are for or what you are against, but I think you like Paul Revere.

Paul Revere was a hero and a patriot. Nice compliment for Weetha.

Paul went one way and the other (unknown) Paul went the other - so everyone was aware of the enemy coming their way! You say that like it's a bad thing when I've taken it 10 ways to China because I too love MY City and will ring the bell when danger is on the horizon!

I'll take that as a compliment!
So far my score on wassup is pretty dern near accurate!

I'm for freedom - was that ever a question? I'm pretty steady on that! You must be unfamiliar w/the rules - or law of the land I pass out called the Constitution, Declaration of Independence & the bill of rights (a 50 page quick read). Must've been too involved w/International Talk like a Pirate day where they celebrate theft!

"It is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. We hold this prudent jealousy to be the first duty of citizens, and one of the noblest characteristics of the late Revolution. The freeman of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entangled the question in precedents. They saw all the consequences in the principle, and they avoided the consequences by denying the principle." --James Madison, Memorial and Remonstrance, 1785

"Weetha I am not sure what you are for or what you are against, but I think you like Paul Revere."

You absolutely useful idiot above, what the hell is wrong with you ? You APPROVE of our beach being effectively sold out from under us to the highest bidder in a series of secret meetings??? The absolute arrogance that made Pam Triolo, Scott Maxwell and most of all, Andy Amoroso think that this was wonderful will ultimately get their asses kicked out of office. You could see the fear in this crappy trio's faces as they came to terms with their secret being out of the bag, an absolutely furious citizenry ready to eat them alive , and a former member of their little secrets club,John Szerdi, ground into dust at the feet of newcomer Ryan Maiers.
Go ahead Crappy Pam, Crappy Scott and most of all Crappy Andy Amoroso, keep screwing with God and keep trying to steal our beach.Next March is right around the corner. Mr. Bornstein, hopefully you have saved some pennies for a rainy day. You're going to need them sooner rather than later.

one thing we do know 3:22 is that you have a fixation with crap and it matches your vocabulary.

Yes to all the lovers of our public beach and park and its saviours, we are now being mis-represented by an 11 month City Manager and an eleven month Commission.
Are they looking for a big cash deal at the beach that will allow them to make up for access to $800,000.00 to spend at their discretion lost at the defeat of their odious bond and looking for a gravy train of cash to be dispensed for their support when they push this affront to the long expressed desires of Lake Worth citizen taxpayers?

Mike, these are all phony comments you are making and not at all how you talk around town Actually you would help us lose an election.
