Comment UpA few months ago I got a call from a homeowner in
Lake Osborne heights.
He was very concerned about
Lake Worth’s decision to use prison labor for various projects in the city such as our alley ways.
His Aunt’s house had been broken into in broad daylight and they took it all.
I raised the question at the last ROLOH meeting to the Sheriff who was there on the use of prison labor (he will report back) and have mentioned it as well at a City Commission meeting. The question fell on deaf ears as most questions do. The concern is that these prisoners are casing our homes during the day in order to come back and rob strategic homes once they get released.
As our crime is growing in Lake Worth in spite of some utterances that say differently, it is something to consider. Tropical Ridge just used prison labor to clean up graffiti. They may be happy with the results since the clean-up but watch the crime stats for B&E down the pike.

So far at various meetings this has been a welcome tool with no reports of wrong doing....PBSO District 14 has not reported any crime as a result of the program and on the ROLOH front we are not using this program for one reason....our allyways are clean and our neighbors are great to help keep them that way....Also to mention is that ROLOH is very aware that most of our burgleries come from the allyways so we are more aware of what is in them and "who" is in them. We ask all neighbors in the ROLOH district to please continue to look BEYOND your back fence...be AWARE of that activity and ANYTHING that is remotely concerning call the non-emergency Sheriff's number 688-3000 and report it. REMEMBER only you can make a difference in your neighorhood by being pro-active. Anything that appears to be an emergency or a crime in progress please dial 911. THANK YOU for making this side of Lake Worth a safer place to live.
