Shuffleboard is not Dead

Comment Up
Six countries to shuffle into Lakeside, Ohio for International Shuffleboard Competition.

I got another reminder about the City of Lake Worth administration and this Commission wanting to remove our shuffleboard courts when Sunday Morning on CBS did a segment on shuffleboarding. They pointed out that shuffleboard is not just for the elderly but all ages. In Lakeside, Ohio, they have International competition every year that brings in people from all over the world. One teen who was interviewed got a college acceptance letter telling him that they couldn't wait to get an internationally ranked shuffleboard player at their college. He will be going to Harvard.

The government here in Lake Worth wants to remove our history to put in a park for immigrants and inner city kids to sit and do nothing...a Commission with no vision when it comes to shuffleboard and one that only likes to utter the words "diversity." We have the tools to become another destination just like Lakeside. We could easily become the destination for tournaments on the east coast of the country. It's all a matter of spreading the word.

I think you meant to say that it is not dead in other places, only LW

found this very interesting as I pass the shuffleboard court almost daily and see city maintenance trucks there almost daily. What gives.
Artists used to paint there yet the city didn't see fit to place the ousted artists from the annex to this facility. What gives.

Any type of recreation attracts people to live here. Shuffleboard is just a recreation that some people actually play in spite of the city that eliminated it and ruined the courts.
