When the bond referendum failed to pass, the city of Lake Worth and its citizens failed. Pot holes don't fix themselves and we have to address the failing road bed that is decades beyond its useable life... That is why we see so many potholes.
The only way to properly fix this ongoing issue is to totally remove the old decaying road bed and replace it all. And if we're smart, while we're doing that work we go underneath the road bed and fix the aging water pipes and sewer lines so it's once and done. Doing this work piecemeal simply does not work. And in the end the citizens have to address this through a bond referendum or it will not get repaired Because we simply lack the money for it.
I really wanted to hear from Diane and Gary, Frank, and Ryan on how they would fix the roads, and where they would find the money. Some of them stated they were in favor of a bond so maybe we all can join together, all the candidates, and the current commission, and work on another bond referendum for the November ballot. Seems more people are behind it this time.
Maybe we should increase our sales tax by 1%... But that would take forever to raise the money needed to completely redo the roads, and I know no one wants to see taxes go up...
11:56 that is a very concise well written post. But isn't it just easier to screech "this commission is not fixing your potholes", without a plan or even any ideas?
The new candidates all had plans to fix our roads. I guess since your HEAD WAS UP THE TRIO"S COLLECTIVE AZZES you didn't hear all three of those plans !
Amon 1:44 The only ideas that I heard from any of the new candidates that showed up at debates or forums was Gary wanting to talk more with the people about it, and everybody eventually chiming in saying that "a bond referendum was probably a good idea".
I'm thinking it's a time for new bond referendum since everyone now agrees that is the way we can raise the funds to rebuild our roads.
Can I get some support here for a new bond referendum?

How about some Townhall meetings on it?
