Restrictions on H-1B Foreign Workers to Combat Abuses

Trump Imposes $100K Fee on H-1B Visas

American companies are laying off their American technology workers and seemingly replacing them with H-1B workers (cheap labor)

Today, President Donald J. Trump signed a Proclamation to restrict the entry into the United States of certain H-1B aliens as nonimmigrant workers, requiring a $100,000 payment to accompany or supplement H-1B petitions for new applications to curb abuses that displace U.S. workers and undermine national security.

The Proclamation restricts entry for aliens as nonimmigrants to perform services in specialty occupations in the H-1B program unless their petition is accompanied by a $100,000 payment.

It directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to restrict approvals for petitions from aliens that are currently outside the United States that are not accompanied by the payment, and allows case-by-case exemptions if in the national interest.

The Proclamation requires employers to retain documentation of payment remittance, with the Secretary of State verifying payment during the petition process and the Departments of State and Homeland Security denying entry for non-payment for the relevant aliens and taking other relevant steps needed to implement the Proclamation.

It will not be applied to existing holders of valid visas re-entering the country. "The proclamation does not apply to aliens who: are the beneficiaries of petitions that were filed prior to the effective date of the proclamation, are the beneficiaries of currently approved petitions, or are in possession of validly issued H-1B non-immigrant visas."

Florida Leads the Country in attracting Skilled Workers

Florida ranks top in the nation for attracting workforce talent

7 Florida cities were among the top 10 in the U.S. for bringing in skilled employees.

Florida ranks as the top state in the nation for attracting and developing skilled workers, marking the third year in a row the Sunshine State has been atop the rankings.

Lightcast, a labor market data agency, issued its Talent Attraction Scorecard for 2025 and put Florida in first. The rankings have been published for 10 years, and Florida has claimed the top slot every year since 2023.

FloridaCommerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly said Florida has gone out of its way to develop and expand its workforce with qualified talent.

“Under Gov. DeSantis’ leadership, we’re creating opportunities for both job seekers and job creators through a strong focus on education and workforce training,” Kelly said.

Hollywood was thrown into chaos after news broke that “Jimmy Kimmel Live” had been suspended “indefinitely.” While many celebrities expressed outrage and defended the late-night host, actor James Woods offered a very different perspective.

Woods drew attention to what he saw as hypocrisy surrounding cancel culture. He referenced the time when Twitter’s Jack Dorsey banned President Donald Trump from the platform during an election cycle. “Remember when Twitter’s Jack Dorsey banned the President of the United States from the world’s biggest forum during an election? He argued that those who once embraced accountability through cancel culture now reject it when they’re the ones facing consequences. “Those who fear cancel culture may claim they fear suppression of speech, but it’s accountability that they want to avoid,” Owens wrote in defense of the practice.

Clay Travis reminded followers that Roseanne Barr was fired by Disney for a single joke on Twitter, despite her show being the top-rated on television. Gina Carano was dropped from a blockbuster streaming series for a social media post. Megyn Kelly also faced career fallout after voicing her opinions. TikTok Lives: US, China Reach Deal

Beijing has said the US spin-off of TikTok to be sold to American investors in a deal orchestrated by President Donald Trump will use parent company ByteDance’s Chinese algorithm.

Wang Jingtao, deputy head of China’s powerful cyber security regulator, on Monday said US and Chinese officials had agreed a framework that included “licensing the algorithm and other intellectual property rights”.

He said ByteDance would “entrust the operation of TikTok’s US user data and content security”, without elaborating.

TikTok’s powerful recommendation algorithm has been at the heart of a geopolitical tug of war over the short-video app since the first Trump administration, when Beijing unveiled export controls on algorithms to thwart a forced sale of the app.

The artificial intelligence algorithm underpins the app’s prized ability to serve up addictive videos tailored to individual users, but has also raised fears among national security hawks that it could be manipulated to push Chinese propaganda or polarising material to users.

US officials have insisted any deal must ensure TikTok’s recommendation algorithm is fully severed from ByteDance, warning continued co-operation could allow Beijing to maintain influence over the content seen by Americans.

Authorities are responding to a bomb threat at the Washington, D.C. residence of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in Georgetown yesterday.

Police K-9 units have been deployed, and the home and surrounding areas are being searched and cleared.

Officials say that, as of now, no explosive device has been found. The scene remains active while the investigation continues.

Mexican Independence Day protest in LA fizzles after Trump administration's crackdown on far-left groups

If there was any day to show the Trump administration that the local population is still ardently resisting federal agents arresting illegal aliens, Tuesday night would have been the perfect time to have their show of force.

Instead, barely 100 protesters showed up at MacArthur Park outside the Mexican Consulate before heading to the Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles for Mexican Independence Day. The event was shared on social media by some far-left groups who have been active in the city, but given the significance of the day, the flyer was not widely shared compared to past protests.

A source familiar with the situation told Blaze News that the Los Angeles Police Department, which monitors online chatter in case of mass disturbances, did not need to issue a tactical alert for the downtown area because the event had such a small crowd.

The lack of any meaningful attendance is shocking considering the wave of riots in response to immigration enforcement started in Los Angeles. The Federal Building was under siege for days, surrounded by thousands of people, back in June. Larger crowds showed up on days like Independence Day for the United States to harass federal agents, soldiers, and Marines guarding the building.

Tuesday's showing is an indicator of how concerned would-be agitators are about getting swept up in the crackdown on violent leftist groups and street actors in the aftermath of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk being assassinated last week.

"There are these nonprofit entities that organize ... attacks on ICE officers, attacks on Border Patrol agents, organized doxxing campaigns, which are a violation of federal law. ... There's a whole network of organization, so I think the key point the president has been making is, somebody is paying for all of this.

This is not happening for free. Under the president's direction, the attorney general is going to find out who is paying for it, and they will now be criminally liable for paying for violence," deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller said on Monday.

Political commentator Megyn Kelly blasted Fox News for claiming Charlie Kirk was "theirs" while it effectively banned him from the network because of his support for Tucker Carlson.

On her popular "The Megyn Kelly Show" podcast recently, the former Fox News anchor didn't mince words about the network's treatment of Kirk.

"It's really bothering me how Fox News is talking about Charlie, like he was theirs — he wasn't. It's a lie. Just stop," Kelly said.

Kelly quit Fox News in January 2017 and has since been one of the network's most vocal critics, particularly after Carlson's firing in April 2023. She claimed that although some Fox personalities were friendly with Kirk, network leadership deliberately kept him off the air.

Kirk's situation with Fox News mirrored that of other pro-Trump allies during the years between his presidencies who were banned from the network for long periods. Ingoglia Accuses Jacksonville of Wasteful Spending

A few days after accusing Orange County of excessive spending, Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia on Wednesday leveled a similar charge against the city of Jacksonville.

The city is overtaxing citizens by nearly $200 million annually, Ingoglia said. The figure is based on inflation and population growth over the last five years, the CFO said.

The formula also includes filters for government efficiency, or lack of it, Ingoglia said.

“We got to what the budget should be under normal, sane circumstances with people who are somewhat fiscally responsible with their money,” he said. “And they were $200 million over that number. That’s an outstanding number.”

As property values and assessments have increased over the last few years, local governments have benefited from higher property tax receipts.

“Local governments are taking that money and expanding government, paying people within the bureaucracy some pretty big raises and wasting dollar after dollar – your tax dollars,” Ingoglia said.

The city’s general fund budget – paid through property taxes – increased by $692 million over the past five years, he said.

New York Post WASHINGTON — Tyler Robinson, the "alleged" murderer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” an investigation revealed according to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox.

Cox noted that Robinson’s political leanings had since become “very clear to us and to the investigators” in an interview with The Wall Street Journal — after Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University.

At a recent family dinner, Robinson had mused over the conservative activist’s first stop of his American Comeback tour at the Orem campus, which was about a three hour drive from the alleged sniper’s home.

Tyler Robinson was actually a leftist who had "become more political in recent years" and leaned left, becoming "more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented," according to his own mother.

The now-alleged shooter — who is not registered with any political party — had discussed how he “didn’t like” Kirk or “the viewpoints he had,” with a relative who responded that the now-slain 31-year-old Turning Point USA leader was “full of hate and spreading hate,” according to Cox and an affidavit.

“They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints that he had,” the Republican governor added during a press conference Friday.

Moments before he was struck with a single bullet in the neck, the father of two young kids had been answering a question about mass shootings carried out by transgender people.

Evidence found at the scene of the fatal shooting provided a glimpse at a gunman with connections to left-leaning internet culture.

The move came a week after the chamber adopted a new rule allowing Trump’s nominees to be confirmed more quickly.

The nominations included several national security-related positions. They included former U.S. Rep. Brandon Williams (R-N.Y.) to be undersecretary of energy for nuclear security and head of the National Nuclear Security Administration, Michael Cadenazzi to be assistant secretary of defense for industrial base policy, and Katherine Sutton to be assistant secretary of defense for cyber policy.

The list also included nominations for Callista Gingrich, wife of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), to be ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and Kimberly Guilfoyle, former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, to be ambassador to Greece.

The nominations were approved by a vote of 51–47. Some of the nominations had been pending since Jan. 20, the day Trump took office, because Senate Democrats denied unanimous consent to procedural measures needed to advance them quickly.

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — More than 30 people were treated and taken to four area hospitals on Thursday after a fight that also involved pepper spray at Lake Worth High School, according to fire rescue.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said they were called to the school at about 12:30 p.m. for the fight.

Fire Rescue Capt. Tom Reyes said that 44 Fire Rescue units and private ambulances responded to the school to "quickly assess, treat and transport" students and faculty who needed assistance.

As of 1:56 p.m., Reyes said they had taken 32 students and faculty to hospitals. They also assessed another 10-12 students, whose family members arrived and decided to take them home.

Jerome Powell and the Fed lowered interest rate by 0.25%

Fed lowers interest rates by 0.25 percentage points in first cut since 2024

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday lowered its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points — its first cut since December — as the U.S. grapples with a stalling labor market and slower economic growth.

The Fed cut reduces the federal funds rate — what banks charge each other for short-term loans — to between 4% and 4.25%, down from its prior range of 4.25% to 4.5%. The last time the central bank eased borrowing costs was in December 2024, when it also trimmed rates by a quarter of a percentage point.

Federal Reserve officials are also penciling in two more rate cuts in 2025, but only one in 2026, according to the central bank's summary of economic projections. That may disappoint Wall Street, with investors before the meeting projecting a total of five cuts over the rest of the year and 2026.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino told Newsmax on Monday that investigators have uncovered "significant developments" suggesting a broader network of people might have been involved in the assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk.

Bongino told "Rob Schmitt Tonight" the bureau is working to determine whether online chatter that surfaced around the time of Kirk's murder indicates foreknowledge of the plot. He cautioned that investigators are still sorting out a timeline.

"The only question is the timeline that other people knew about the incident," Bongino said. "Did they know before? Did they know afterward? … When you read some of the traffic, it's unclear if that message was received before or after."

DNA Links Suspect to Kirk Assassination, Note Recovered

DNA evidence matching that of Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer was found at the crime scene, FBI Director Kash Patel said on Sept. 15.

Tyler Robinson, the suspect arrested for the Sept. 10 assassination of the conservative Christian influencer at Utah Valley University, also left a note expressing that he had an opportunity to kill Kirk, Patel said.

In a Sept. 15 interview with Fox News, Patel said, “I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody.”

Patel also referred to reports of an alleged note left behind by Robinson, saying that the suspect wrote that he had the “opportunity to take out” Kirk and wrote, “I’m going to take it.” That message was written before the Sept. 10 shooting, he said.

Patel said that it was both a “note” and a “text message exchange,“ adding that it was ”destroyed“ but that investigators recovered it. Other evidence in the case, Patel said, was ”shocking,” although he didn’t go into more detail.

WH Confirms $58 Million Ask for Security After Kirk Assassination

With Democrats reportedly talking about obstructing a continuing resolution and forcing a government shutdown by Oct. 1, the White House has requested $58 million from Congress to strengthen security for the executive and judicial branches following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

A White House official confirmed to Newsmax the amount and the request to be included as part of upcoming government funding deal.

The funding would expand protection for Supreme Court justices and increase resources for the U.S. Marshals Service, officials said. The request comes ahead of a Sept. 30 government funding deadline, raising pressure on Congress to act quickly.

Mike Johnson has pressed for enhanced security measures for Congress and warned about social media-fueled calls for violence.

Report: Florida State, South Florida lead six in top 100

Florida State and the South Florida led six institutions in the top 100 of the 257 schools analyzed in the largest annual review of free speech for colleges and universities.

Both schools earned a C-minus letter grade, with Florida State scoring a 71 and the University of South Florida a 70. Also scoring in the top third of the nationwide rankings were Florida (45th, 64, D), Florida International (53rd, 63, D), Florida Atlantic (68th, 61, D-minus), and Central Florida (80th, 60, D-minus).

FIRE, the acronym for Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, based the rankings on 68,000 students at 253 colleges and universities.

Claremont McKenna College, in Claremont, Calif., scored an 80 for a B-minus to lead the rankings. Purdue (76, C) and the University of Chicago (76, C) were next. On the other end, Northeastern (47, F), the University of Washington (44, F) and Indiana (44, F) were the bottom three.

Florida State fell 17 spots from the previous year. The report says students attempted to disinvite Charlie Kirk, a national leader in debate killed on Wednesday in Utah. Kirk was in Tallahassee on Feb. 28.

The report says Florida State is bottom 25 for openness, and it “could strengthen its speech culture by adopting an official commitment to institutional neutrality.”

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” Sept. 14 that the man suspected of killing Charlie Kirk in the middle of an event Kirk spoke at on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University has invoked his Fifth Amendment rights.

The suspect, Tyler Robinson, is 22. He is in a special housing unit at Utah County Jail until he is cleared by medical staff as he waits for formal charges, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, ABC4 — ABC’s affiliate in Salt Lake City — reported Sept. 14.

After medical staff clear Robinson, he will be placed in housing according to the charges he’s booked on, Sgt. Ray Ormond of Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, according to ABC4.

Those charges are aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm — causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice — capital/first-degree felony conduct, the article said.

According to Cox, Robinson has a boyfriend who is “transitioning from male to female,” and he has been “very cooperative with authorities,” unlike Robinson. Cox said they’ve learned Robinson’s boyfriend, who’s also his roommate, did not have any knowledge about Robinson’s plan and was shocked to find out that Robinson has been suspected of killing Kirk.

California Bans ICE Agents from Wearing Masks

California's legislature has passed a bill that bans federal law enforcement officers from wearing masks while on duty, with criminal penalties for noncompliance.

The bill, SB-627, bans any law enforcement officer or agent from wearing a "facial covering that conceals or obscures their facial identity in the performance of their duties," with exceptions for motorcycle helmets and SWAT officers, along with N-95 masks for COVID-19.

Assuming it's signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), violators could face either a fine or charged with a misdemeanor.

The bill also strips law enforcement officers from qualified immunity for officer and agents who commit "assault, battery, false imprisonment, false arrest, abuse of process, or malicious prosecution" while wearing a mask, and could face a fine up to $10,000.

"ICE law enforcement officers wear masks to prevent doxing, which can (and has) placed them and their families at risk. All ICE law enforcement officers carry badges and credentials and will identify themselves when required for public safety or legal necessity," the agency wrote on its website in the FAQ area.

A video posted online showed the moment a lorry driver called police to report his vehicle had been hit by the man’s car in Franklin Park village, 15 miles north-west of Chicago.

Law enforcement sources said that investigators are examining leftist groups both in Utah and online to figure out if they helped him with the shooting — or at least heard it was going to happen.

The probe includes groups in online gaming community Steam, as well as a pro-trans organization called Armed Queers SLC, which took down their Instagram after Kirk was killed, the source confirmed.

Meanwhile, a slew of disturbing — though as yet unverified — social media posts about Kirk are raising questions about whether some people online may have known about the assassination before it happened on Sept. 10.

Russia and Belarus on Friday began their "Zapad 2025" joint military exercises amid escalating tensions following Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace during an attack on Ukraine earlier this week.

"Zapad" (or West in Russian) drills occur every two years and are perceived as intimidation exercises on NATO's eastern flank.

Russia and its key ally Belarus started major joint military drills on Friday, putting NATO on edge days after Poland accused Moscow of escalating tensions by firing attack drones through its airspace.

NATO's eastern flank members that border Belarus – Poland, Lithuania and Latvia – are on high alert over the drills, which Belarus says will be held near Borisov, a town east of the capital Minsk.

All three countries have ramped up security ahead of the exercises, with Poland ordering the complete closure of its border with Belarus for their duration.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned of "critical days" for his country.

That’s why the events of this week should shake every parent to their core. When conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, leaving behind a wife and two young children, something disturbing emerged from Florida’s classrooms.
