Mamdani Appointee Resigns Over Resurfaced Antisemitic, Anti-Police, And Anti-White Posts

For New York City’s incoming socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani, that lesson arrived before he even took the oath of office.Mamdani’s November victory made history; he’ll become the city’s first Muslim mayor when he’s sworn in on January 1. But the celebration was tempered by deep unease among New York’s Jewish community, the largest outside of Israel.
Exit polls confirmed what many suspected: most Jewish voters rejected Mamdani. The Anti-Defamation League was so concerned they launched a tracker to monitor his administration’s policies the day after his election.
Given this scrutiny, you’d think Mamdani’s transition team would exercise extraordinary care in vetting appointments. …but you’d be wrong.
On Wednesday, Mamdani proudly announced Catherine Almonte Da Costa as his Director of Appointments—the person responsible for recruiting leadership across his entire administration. By Thursday afternoon, she had resigned in disgrace after researchers unearthed a trail of antisemitic social media posts.
