I think it might be a good idea to think about giving to charity without getting sloshed. Weekend after weekend the roads are blocked off, the main purpose being for the citizenry to get drunk with impunity. Let's grow up a little bit. You are only fooling yourselves. The wear'n o the green is just an excuse to drink yourselves into oblivion. The only one who benefits from these bacchanalian festivals is Budweiser. You mean to say we couldn't buy a child a wheelchair, or make a contribution to childhood cancer without a three day binge. And then you wonder why your city has gone to hell. Alcoholism is real. St. Patrick is dead, R.I.P. Lake Worth is a snake pit where mercantilism has kidnapped your best intentions. Better to buy a ticket for the Lenten Fish Fry, or some $2.00 books at the Lake Worth Library than get ossified over a 5th century Saint.
It's easy to be happy when you don't have a clue what is going on in the world. I would say that pretty much describes the crowd you are speaking about.

No one knows who St. Patrick was. This is now a time to act silly and drink green beer.
These people don't need a holiday to act silly!

Or, shall we say, mange?
Great time so many happy faces!!!
if you have to drink green beer to look happy we are in more trouble than we thought
