Marco Rubio thanks his supporters

I just stepped off the stage where I was honored to win re-election to the United States Senate.

Tonight's victory is not for me. It's a victory for our shared values, beliefs and for the next generation.

When I announced my campaign for re-election, many laughed at us thinking we would never be able to run a winning campaign in such a shortened amount of time. But, we proved them wrong because we had something more powerful than our opponents thought: YOUR support.

It was from the support of friends like yourself that we were able to run a winning Senate campaign in less than six months. It was from the generous work of volunteers and supporters from across this state and nation that we were able to resonate with voters and fight back against the negative advertising used against us and the millions spent to defeat us. And it was from your constant hard work, prayers and volunteering that we will keep our conservative voice in the Senate.

I knew this campaign needed to happen because our work in Washington was not done.

Together we are going to work together to lower taxes, lessen our government's invasion in our lives and ensure we leave our nation in a better place for our children than when we inherited it.

Tonight is not the end of our campaign, it is another stepping stone in our efforts to protect our children's and nation's future and ensure it is a more prosperous one than was given to us. It's a journey I can't wait to take and I'm honored to have you alongside me.

Our work is not done tonight, in fact it's just beginning and it's exciting.
