30 Story Office Tower on Flagler Drive

Comment Up

Developers have taken over Florida. This used to be a wonderful place 50 years ago before they found this beautiful place and proceeded to ruin our skyline and waterfront. Here's an example of more high rise development that could be on our waterfront in West Palm Beach. How sad.

Vote smart tomorrow. Vote for people who care.

Lynn, come on (and I say this gently)

- we will never be like WPB or Ft Lauderdale - maybe. - But, every piece of waterfront will/and/is becoming uber valuable and how can you fight that? It's just inevitable.

And as perhaps sad as that fact is, people with lower incomes can't afford to have the most valuable properties.
I think all we can do is stay on top of development; I for one believe that the Gulfstream opening is huge for LW.
And I don't believe that given the variance, monster condos will be next.
I believe in them and do not think they're corrupt.
You don't agree, (duh)
I know.

Well, just look at the State of Florida. Just read about the continuous development going on at the expense of our farm land, wetlands, etc. So, "you come on on."
I have seen our state change and our entire east coast become condo haven. You used to be able to drive down A1A and see the ocean. Were you around then? You think helping developers to become wealthy at the expense of our beautiful state, city, etc. is the right thing?

A couple of things: If you don't want building out into the everglades and more draining of the swamps, you need to accommodate all the people moving here by infill. That means more density.

Next, I was here back when you could drive down A1A and all I could see was the dune. Now, if there isn't a mansion on the dune, there is a (gasp) 6 story condo.

I agree with the above anon poster that building the proposed addition to the Gulfstream is a good thing.

Keeping Lake Worth poor will only place more of the burden of keeping up our infrastructure on the rest of us.

I agree with you, I'm a native Floridian, but the fact is that developers don't build unless there is a demand. So if you stop all the people from moving here, the developers will stop building. I don't hear of any building booms in North Dakota.

the Gulfstream has the right to build an addition on its owned property. the objection is the 5 stories. If you give a developer an inch he will take the mile.
What controls develoeprs is the zoning and LDR's. We have tried to do that in LW.

No one for whom I know wants to keep Lake Worth "poor." It totally ticks me off when you say something like that becasue it is UNtrue.
We do, however, want people to afford to be able to stay in their homes.
