Benny's on the Beach - Lake Worth

Comment Up

Two years ago, Benny's on the Beach was given a ten year lease with the City of Lake Worth.  Terms were $20,000 a month with Benny's paying taxes, garbage, utilities as well as providing a pier master to oversee it for fishing and visitors.

Recently it has remodeled its restaurant and the closing time has been extended to accommodate dinner patrons.

If there's a problem, you're probably it.

I'll bite. Benny's is great and I'm a fan of the recent changes. But, I think the city does a piss poor job of managing its properties. We had the same problem with John g's, totally took advantage of the city and didn't pay proper market rates for rent. The city shouldn't be charging flat rent rates but should charge a base rent and then take % of profits.

So here if Benny's increases their profits after getting approval from city for longer or later hours then city would get more money.

We all know city is in the red, we don't have funds for potholes so if we can increase return on our rental properties we should.

I believe in free enterprise, anonymous. It is up to that business owner what works for him. All work and no play makes Johnny a very dull boy, right?

As far as John G's taking advantage of the city--that is a total misconception and distortion of the truth. The city gave the lease to them, not the other way around.

We used to get a % of the profits from Benny's. This commission changed that. But $20 thou a month seems like a hefty rent to me.

We would have money for infrastructure if this Commission stopped pissing away the money we give them on STUPID STUFF !!! Another study anyone? How about 185,000 to study the feasibility of selling our electric when the experts have already said THERE IS NO WAY ! Oh and now Seimens has jumped on the Gravy Train!
