Supreme Court Sides With Illegal Alien in Dispute Over Deportation Process

The Supreme Court rejected the federal government’s effort to move forward with the deportation of a failed refugee claimant who argued he shouldn’t be removed from the United States because official paperwork was incomplete.

The 6-3 vote in the case, Niz-Chavez v. Barr, court file 19-863, evenly divided the 6-member conservative bloc on the court.

Three conservative justices sided with the liberals. Justice Neil Gorsuch delivered the court’s opinion, in which conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Amy Coney Barrett, joined, along with liberal Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan. Conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote a dissenting opinion that was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito. [EpochTimes]

The Florida House on Wednesday passed a measure that would ask voters in 2022 to impose eight-year term limits on county school board members.

The House voted 87-30 to approve the proposed constitutional amendment (HJR 1461).

This will now go to the Florida Senate and if passed, will be an amendment to the Florida Constitution and voted on at this year's general election.

Liberal Judge Gave Terrorists Smack on the Wrist

Illinois man has been sentenced to no more than 13 years behind bars for conspiring to provide cell phone bomb detonators to the Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS).

Edward Schimenti, a 39-year-old from the Chicago suburb Zion, was sentenced to 162 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Andrea Wood on Friday, according to a news release from the Department of Justice. A federal jury convicted Schimenti on one count of conspiracy to provide material support and resources to ISIS and one count of lying to the FBI in 2019.

The FBI opened an investigation into Schimenti and co-conspirator Joseph Jones, 38, due to "troubling" comments they made online, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. Wood sentenced Jones to 12 years in prison in March. He was convicted on the same conspiracy charge as Schimenti in 2019. [Newsweek]

Also, many black voters support some of the proposed regulations in the Georgia election integrity laws such as the voter ID mandate.

Gov. Brian Kemp signed the bill on March 31. Certain provisions will go into effect on July 1:

• Special ballots will be created for nonpartisan elections

• Ballots must be printed in black and white ink on security paper

• A cutoff date of 11 days before a primary, general election or runoff election for mail-in ballot applications

• A deadline for the issuance of absentee ballots at least 25 days before a federal primary, general election or special election or 22 days before a municipal general election or primary

• A Georgia state driver's license number, ID card number, date of birth and the last four digits of a social security number or another approved form of identification must be printed on the outside of an absentee ballot

• Conditions for rejecting absentee ballots if certain requirements are not met

• The law expands in-person early voting for general elections, according to The AJC. Two early-voting periods are required on a Saturday for each county, with optional voting on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (hours may be extended to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).

• The voting period for runoff elections was also shortened from nine weeks to four weeks.

• The law bans people aside from poll workers from soliciting votes or signatures from voters.

• The distribution or display of campaign materials is also restricted to 150 feet of the "outer edge" of a polling location or within 25 feet of a person waiting in line to vote. Offering money and gifts – including food or drink – to a voter is prohibited. [USAToday]

FEMA still wants its money from Lake Worth?

This must be the same demand from FEMA that has been going on for years. Last week, the commission met out of the sunshine on this serious situation that could cost taxpayers multi-millions that we don't have.

I have written about this through the years where the city took millions of government money that it was not entitled to according to FEMA because of sloppy accounting or even possible fraud (buying personal sfuff at Sam's Club?) according to our outside auditors at the time. The biggest abuses were in the Utility Department. We even had a city manager, Paul Boyer, who was fired.

In 2010, years after the Hurricanes, FEMA sent a letter to the City requesting it pay back $8.1 million. Later, city manager Bornstein said that the claim had been negotiated down to around $4 million.

City Manager Bornstein lamented and blamed FEMA. At that time, it was documented that the city was unable to prove their claims because of faulty record keeping and/or unable to produce records and receipts.

So, a certified court reporter was present at this meeting to ensure that the session was fully transcribed. Transcript will be made public upon the conclusion of the above-cited, ongoing litigation.
