Crematorium smoke

When I saw it in 2010, it was the very first time I had ever seen smoke coming from the facility. It was startling to say the least. I have to admit, that I haven't seen it since that time although we know smoke is emitted every time they fire up their burners...we just don't normally witness it or smell it.

The day I saw this black smoke, it was rising straight up in the air.  Apparently the other day about thirty  residents were very upset when they saw the thick black smoke consisting of dangerous toxic chemicals such as mercury coming down towards the ground from this same facility.  They are also concerned that more crematoriums are locating to Lake Worth.

At Tuesday night's meeting, Yolanda, who lives in the 500 block of South D Street, spoke to it as well as Susan, Michael and Tammy. It's bad enough to have to endure the smell of smoke from a cigarette but a crematorium? What is so depressing about it is we only have a few choices when we die--get cremated or get embalmed and buried underground or in a vault above ground. None of these choices are appealing.

What causes all the smoke is someone who is obese and fat in the body is like lard--it smokes. This fat person should have been put in the oven at night. This was a mistake of the operator.

Why does the CM pass the buck? If a business is creating a nuisance in our community then we as a City should address and not wait for the Dept. of Health or whatever. We have all kinds of ways to regulate business and the City should use those tools and get this under control. Its gross and disturbing to see this.

There are NO other crematoriums coming to Lake Worth. The county and city codes requirements do not allow that use here.

This facility has been there for decades, likely when most of us weren't around these parts.

Don't like living nearby, you should always remember, buyer beware... and 'location, location, location'...

It is disturbing to see these admissions, I'm sure the authorities will get to the bottom of it so it will not occur again.
