Commission Meeting
When: Thu, July 30, 6pm – 8pm
Where: City Hall, 7 North Dixie Highway
Discussion of Beach/Casio Invitation to Negotiate
The City of Lake Worth is STILL pursuing development at our casino property and pushing its agenda. All they continue to do is wear you down. They won't let it die or just take care of what we already have.
We are now going to hear presentations from the three companies that submitted their individual plans per the Invitation to Negotiate, a secret meeting held behind closed doors over six months. Hudson Holdings, owners of the Gulfstream Hotel, Oceanside Bar & Grill and Wave House Miami. Wave House was previously turned down by the ITN Select Committee for late document submission but we get to hear them anyway. Why would we want surfing in our pool when we are right on the ocean with the real deal.
And don't forget our Olympic Pool--the city and majority commission want to screw that up too.
A "white elephant" according to City Manager Bornstein
who just won't market it
This will be an opportunity for those residents of our city who are working for Hudson Holdings to come forward and finally admit their participation in this attempt to grab our beach. John Szerdi never admitted it during the election and a former HRPB member, who recently admitted to a resident his connection to Hudson Holdings, has not either.

Wes Blackman is going to try and show that the casino is losing money per the audit and will again blame it on past commissions. Actually the commission voted on the leases. The rest room at the south end cost several hundreds of thousands of dollars that Szerdi designed which is why they are running in the red.
Wes keeps saying that Hudson is not trying to get hold of our beach. Is he just plain dumb or lying? We're not talking about the damn sand, Wes. We're not dummies. We are talking about a long-term lease of up to 99 years.
Why is Serdi's bathroom the problem?
Will the public be allowed to speak at this meeting?
It still makes me FURIOUS that the city manager plotted to have these meetings held OUT OF THE SUNSHINE. A select group got to plan what would happen to a public beach.
The idea that Commissioner Amoroso agreed with and participated in this disgusting process is reason enough to kick him out of office.
They already screwed up the beach parking for decal parking by dividing it into two areas, now it is harder to find a spot and you need to circle and drive back and forth to find a spot, what a stupid idea that was to divide the parking! These leaders are so stupid!
Perhaps I'm in the minority, but every time I go to the beach I feel like it works well. There are always a lot of people there so it seems popular to others as well.
I enjoy the various businesses that are there. I use the pool, I use the sand. I don't have parking trouble. I do have a parking permit but only recently got it, before then I never had a problems paying for parking.
Really the only think I don't use, the fishing pier and the upstairs space (but I would patronize a business upstairs if there was one).
I'd like to see the bathrooms and pool locker rooms redone at some point, but it doesn't need to be now. It would be nice if they let the pool be open in the evening. I am thankful that they finally, after months and months and months, got the baby pool fixed.
Who wants to take bets that this is why Wes resigned his various positions, he's going to work on HH (behind the scenes or otherwise).
@1:51--I know that Bornstein wanted to do that. When I was up there the other day I did not notice that.
The permit parking has been split. On the one hand, it provides permit parking for those who prefer the south end of the beach (Benny's, the fishing pier, the surf area) which is a positive. On the other hand, if the upper permit parking area (where all the spots were originally placed) is full, you have to circle around and drive to the other end of the parking lot.
I can understand why they undertook the change, but when season rolls around it will be a mess.
The Casino NEVER had an upstairs restaurant. Who's brain child was that?
WHAT..WHY would Wes want to give up playing with his noodle in the pool?
Wes is saying on FB that HH's proposal is much smaller now, clearly he knows b/c he's working with them. I think he would give up the pool in a heartbeat. He is all for private club.
And smaller proposal is a tried and true developer maneuver. Roll out a ridiculous, big proposal, have everyone get up in arms, then propose what you really want and everyone thinks you are being responsive to the citizens or "compromising". When HH was talking about a convention center at the beach, I assumed this was their purposefully ridiculous plan and I'll bet I'm right on that one.
It's not that Wes is for a private club. He is all about making money for Wes.
Why are they having this meeting on a Thursday in midsummer when nobody knows about it?? Maybe the great puppeteer Hudson Holdings has commanded that all their henchmen including Wes and the IG make sure this theft goes through really fast and really quietly before (gasp) any of the citizens find out. Michael, our new town boss has once again spoken out of the sunshine. Now watch the gang of three scrambling and falling all over each other to do his bidding and deliver our beach to him. Do you ever wonder just how many in this group are on his payroll??
Wow you guys are really funny. Love all the misinformation and lies.
