July 30th City Commission Workshop

Comment Up

Come on down to City Hall and listen to what the city wants in store for our beautiful beach park, you know, the one that they tell you they are losing money on when in reality they are making money and where parking is going up 12.5%. Gosh, Peter Willard must be laughing his azz off while he counts that $1.6 million.

UPDATES/FUTURE ACTION/DIRECTION:
A. Lake Worth Beach Complex, Casino Building Vacant Space and Municipal Pool
Invitation to Negotiate (ITN)

PRESENTERS:

1) Hudson Holdings
has submitted revised drawings.  Of course, NO one can read them. Apparently they have scaled back "what they originally want" but so what?  This is a group that can't even clean up the blight at the Gulfstream.  After a year, they did trim some trees and got rid of some brush recently.

2) Oceanside Bar and Grill
still wants a lease term of ten years with 3, five year renewals. Sorry, can't do it. They also want control of the total upstairs level . All ballroom rentals will be under their control. Want rights to rent the courtyard. Wants hotdog stands and carts. Willing to pay $20sf including CAM. Such a deal.

At the April 28, 2015 meeting, the Evaluation Committee (dissolved on that date) made three recommendations to the City Commission:
1. That the City Commission direct City staff (William Waters) to develop a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a qualified firm to prepare a traffic/development impact study with related evaluations in order to discern viable levels of development and intensity of uses at the beach.

2. That during the budget process, the City Commission hold a separate workshop on the Beach Fund in order to address policy decisions that must be made for the FY 2016 Beach Fund budget.

3. That the City Commission continue negotiations with Anderson Carr (on behalf of Oceanside Bar & Grill) for the lease of the upstairs vacant space at the Casino Building and management/lease of the ballroom.

The Evaluation Committee also recommended that the foregoing be concluded within six (6) months. So, that would be October 28, 2015 when we are into our new 2016 budget. So the city wants a decision waaaaaaaaaaay before that. And they want to, once again, hand over our beach complex (that could be up to 99 years) because they just want it off their plate...one less thing to worry about in this city that can't fix a pot hole but can find $8.6 million to pour into the Park of Commerce.

Remember this group of scoundrels at election time. Including Mike Bornstein and William Waters. I hope the new Commission has public reviews of the city manager every quarter. When he fails them miserably ,who will ever hire him again??

You don't think that this city won't devise some sort of waiver on Oceanside Grill wanting 25 years? This city does what it wants regardless of rules and ordinances.

Neither one of these proposals are any good. Why do we need any of this?

Hudson Holdings will get the beach contract. Sadly enough the citizens of Lake Worth can spin their wheels and protest it but mark my words its all about who you know. Especially with exclusive 4th of July Parties & back alley deals with them. I hope and pray they don't get the Beach Contract but our commission and leaders aren't known for being the most stand up & transparent individuals (I'm not singling Maier out so please don't take it that way Lynn) Back off our Beach HH!

Keep the faith. Even our visionaries must understand what's going on here. I am hoping that Andy Amoroso, one of the few on the majority dais who actually thinks things through, at least will see the light.

HH has gotten away with so much in this city! I bet there not even collecting fines on the Gulf stream hotel for all the stuff code cited them for, it would be interesting to know the truth. Its all a political shell game and its wrong! How do you keep the faith in our leaders when travesties like this are allowed to happen. They bought the Gulf Stream under the promise of rehabbing it and have they done anything with it? Nope. Why is the city even speaking with them regarding our beach when 95% of LW says BACK OFF OUR BEACH!

95% really? That's just more of your made up b.s.
