Putin's Mobilization

Putin's 'Dad's Army': Ageing reservists

line up to go to war as Britain reveals number of Russians fleeing tyrant's mobilization now exceed the size of his initial invasion force

  • Silver-haired and balding reservists are heading to the front lines less than a week after mobilization order
  • Putin is trying to bolster his troops by sending old and inexperienced conscripts to the front lines
  • Middle-class and educated Russians have managed to escape the order and flee to neighboring countries
The men drafted into the war effort are among the working class rural communities who have been unable to join the masses escaping over the border into neighboring Georgia, Kazakhstan and Finland.

The number who have fled now likely exceeds the number of troops in Putin's original invasion forces, military intelligence suggests.

The British Ministry of Defence said in its daily update today: 'In the seven days since President Putin announced the 'partial mobilization' there has been a considerable exodus of Russians seeking to evade call-up.

First of all, the same thing would happen here, and DID happen here during the Viet Nam years.

Secondly, in case you don't know it, the Russians and those countries further west, have literally been at war with one another for hundreds of years.

In fact, the European Union is the only thing that keeps the Europeans from killing one another to this day.

What is the same thing that happened in Viet Nam? Why is that relevant to this news.
Why is anything you stated relevant. Obviously you believe that invading another country and annihilating it and its people is A-ok. We invaded Iraq on faulty intel. That wasn't ok.

I have no idea whether you remember Viet Nam, or not, but anybody who could get a deferment, got one.

That is not to say, that there were not fine brave soldiers in Viet Nam.

As far as Russia invading Ukraine, we could have stopped it very easily. Instead, we encouraged the eastward movement of NATO, which of course, could not, and will not stand in Russia.

We don't own the world. To use a hackneyed phrase: We are a legend in our own minds.

To add to your post, 11:03; this is your same US Government that supported the Mujahidin during the Afghan War with Russia.

Raytheon developed Stinger Missiles were shipped to the Jihadi's, who were then trained in Scotland to blow up the Russian planes.

How'd that work out for us.

But the stockholders of Raytheon did very well.
