Citizens Advisory Committee Bond Referendum

Under the Consent Agenda tonight are more appointments to the Citizens Committee that will help oversee the bond referendum. I have been told that there are a few members of the Finance Advisory Board who have their noses bent out of shape regarding this committee even being formed at all.

Citizens Advisory Committee Bond Referendum
  • Mayor Triolo’s appointment of Cynthia Brown and Ben Ellis, Jr. both for a term ending on July 31, 2020.
  • Commissioner Amoroso’s appointment of Michelle Sylvester for a term ending on July 31, 2020.
  • Commissioner Robinson’s appointment of Linda Brower for a term ending on July 31, 2020.
Earlier in the month, the Vice Mayor appointed Kathleen McGiveron and Peter Callaro to the Bond Referendum Citizens’ Advisory Committee for a term ending in July 31, 2020.

The only hold-out is commissioner Hardy's appointment?

Michelle Sylvester does not live here,,.She has a business here on Lake Avenue but does not own the building,,This is a political appt. Why is she so concerned about how or where we spend our bond money?

Why should business owners be excluded from participating when their businesses pay property taxes here probably a lot higher than yours? I applaud any business owners who don't live in LW for wanting to be involved in their community. The bond affects residents AND businesses alike.

They pay a business license fee and that sort of thing but they only pay taxes on real property (or on the assessed value of the property) as you do for your home--not on the business.
