High income taxpayers already pay the most. Read the article.
There are a lot of people out here who complain that life is just not fair and they want to take it from the rich and spread the wealth around from people who actually work for a living and create jobs. This was a Robin Hood fantasy and he was a criminal. Isn't socialism criminal? Taking money from the wealthy and giving it to those who will not and refuse to work and get an education?
Bernie Sanders is a "democratic socialist." Then you have that New York City nut job mayor Bill deBlasio who is a far left-wing liberal Democrat and then throw in the entire state of California...detriments and downfalls to our country. If you want poverty, misery, and tyranny, try socialism, a failed system world over because it ignores incentives.

This is up there for all my socialist friends! :)
So the point you're making is that the people who make the most income pay the most in income taxes? Well, knock me silly. I bet you're also surprised when stats show that sunscreen sales are highest in Florida.
The figure that you should be comparing is the net rate of taxation. In other words, what percentage a billionaire pays after he/she has taken all their deductions and write-offs. Compare that to some lower or middle-class schlep who has little or no write offs and I will be willing to bet you that the total rate of taxation for the poorer individual is the same or greater.
I'm not a socialist but I do know that 8 years of conservative polices almost gave us our 2nd depression in 2008 and that we've been digging ourselves out of that hole since.
As far as throwing around the term "nut job," Republicans ought to keep from using that term until Donald Trump has fallen from being their candidate of choice.
LOL about Donald trump.
Honest to God, I do not understand what our town has against the people who have worked really hard and happened to make money.
The commenter who posed 'billionaires ' against middle and lower class incomes is really reaching and non-factual.
Billionaires, seriously, that's your comparison?
I am so tired of LW, my town, making me feel like we are somehow injurious, for having a higher income than most.
We have worked our tails off to get where we are...and choose to live in LW - not Palm Beach or Delray Beach - which we could afford, but CHOOSE not to...
Because we love LW - but time and time again, we feel we are not wanted here...going back to 8 years ago and the Commission then..
I sincerely, just don't get it. We pay our taxes, we have a non-neglected property -
We Love this town....but it seems to get in the way of itself ALL the time...
Am so sad about it...Will there ever be a time when rational thought, instead of immediate "NO"s play a part here?
Lynn, I think you are wise....can you not sit down with the people who want to invest in LW and come to a good compromise that suits everyone?
Begging you....
😥
I agree with ANYONE pointing out that we went to war and then went to another war without making ANY adjustments of ways to pay for them. Had we done so, our involvement would have been diminished and shorter lived. That's not even getting into why we were where we were.
"Conservative policies" aside, it was most likely a Clinton directive to ease up the requirements of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac in order to make the American Dream of home ownership available to more "low income" people, and the aftermath of that decision that eventually tanked the economy. Greed from top to bottom.
Trump is another story. Same appeal and more money that Christie. Straight talking, calling a spade a spade. The PC liberals' heads are exploding especially at how his poll numbers are staying high. "You mean people actually relate to people like 'him'?"
The skilled politicians will eventually bring back the sausage making spectacle we know as representative democracy and Trump will be a footnote. In doing so, he will have made his brand stronger and add a couple hundred more to his net worth.
From 30,000 feet, it looks like it will be a match up of Bush v Clinton. A family we love to hate against a family we love to hate.
God help us.
