Shady stuff behind the scenes exposed before the election

Comment Up
The City can't manage it so they want to cement it in?

Although the city was keeping all of the proposals quiet (last month, I could not even get the names of any company that had made a proposal), some of it was exposed by fate when Commissioner McVoy was invited to attend a meeting at the Glasshouse by an owner in the Gulfstream Condo.  He heard the presentation by Hudson Holdings, that did make a proposal to Lake Worth to expand the casino area by building a 40,000 s.f. center totaling eliminating our pool. John Szerdi is employed by this company.

“It would make Lake Worth a destination for conferences. This will build the city’s tourism business. It’s a fantastic private-public partnership,” said Steven Michael, a principal at Delray Beach-based Hudson Holdings, speaking about our Lake Worth beach and casino.

Lake Worth falls for anything.  It fell for the song and dance made by Greater Bay (the flim flam artists)  and some of these same people are endorsing Szerdi and Jerome. Greater Bay cost us dearly and caused two lawsuits.

City officials say they’re just trying to find a way to make the complex generate money to pay down its debt.

Why don't they tell the residents the truth?  We borrowed from ourselves and have been paying the interest back to the utility from where it was borrowed.  It was John Szerdi and the rest of the commission who voted to delay the principal payment. It's not like we have a loan at a bank or something and we are behind.

Lynn is exactly right. The PUBLIC (those dirty little peons, ) will be able to use the pool in the mornings. What the hell does that mean? Knowing Dirty Szerdi and crew it probably means something like from 6A.M. to 7A.M. the public is welcome, the rest of the time only private club members can use it.
And why is ANYONE trusting Hudson Holding? Where has there been ANY progress on the Gulfstream? Remember all of their grand plans to renovate the hotel? Funny, the beach NEVER came up in any conversations with the neighborhood assoc. they presented at. These guys are just another flim-flam co. that wants to rape Lake Worth. With the full consent of Pam Triolo, Scott Maxwell, Andy Amoroso and John (I'm an Architect ) John Szerdi.

How do you call it a secret meeting if it was at a condo with all the condo residents? Isn't the fact that they had this meeting with the general public make it not secret?

i hardly believe that the city is going to put cement in such a beautiful pool

It was a private meeting, anonymous @ 3:19--not one for the general public. And THAT IS the problem. Hudson let the cat out of the bag regarding the city's intentions. Hopefully, the commission will think this through.

If it was a Private Meeting for Residents Only why was McVoy there sounds fishy to me.......

Lynn Anderson said...

That sounds "fishy" to you? What's fishy, anonymous at 6:55, is that there was a private meeting there for the residents of that condo who were offered a parking slip in Hudson's parking garage they say they are going to build. HUDSON thinks the city IS playing ball with them on our beach. That is so much more than FISHY but it sure does STINK.

Lynn, I worked at the Gulfstream Hotel-several years ago and the owners of the Condo were always parking in the lot that does not belong to them, but to the hotel. I find nothing fishy about promised parking spaces in a covered parking garage, I call it being neighborly.

Gullibility. Pay to play sounds more like it. Or I'll scratch yours if you scratch mine.

If the whole condo was invited, that's not very private. As if people in a condo keep things confidential, doubt it. Seems like an exaggeration by a desperate candidate a/k/a McVoy. If he disagrees with whatever proposal is made, he can simply vote against it, but to claim there is some conspiracy going on proves he's chosen politics over people. He's no better than any of the others, he's now a professional politician. Time for term limits. 3 year terms, 2 term limit.

It was by invitation only, a meeting out of the public eye.
What we need are honest people who are not beholden to private interests and developers, anonymous at 8:49.

It never should've been an ITN but a RFP on a PUBLIC BEACH! This isn't on the Gulfstream Hotel Hudson owns but OUR PUBLIC BEACH! (ITN are the way Walmart happens)!

The President (Kibbee?) asked Szerdi to attend but it was a conflict of interest because of his connection to Hudson Holdings! Why do you want a candidate that CAN NOT VOTE (and should not have even commented on the ITN) on the ITN?

McVoy got an invite from another owner and has no conflict of interest but a real concern to Keep our Beach PUBLIC!

A private meeting between two private entities. Not a public meeting for the general public. McVoy possibly violated Government in the Sunshine Act by announcing his skewed view of the meeting discussing things that the commission may very well vote on.

Anyone with eyes can see this was an election ploy meant to mislead the residents and scare them into thinking something is being done behind theri backs when this is typically how progress is made.

Sure Hudson may have been trying to garner support from the condo owners. But any changes to the casino complex would surely come before your representatives.

The flim flam artists are not at all like these guys. Greater Bay had NEVER successfully completed ANY type of project, much less the size and scope of the Casino Project. Hudson has and is doing quite well in Delray Beach.

One of the lawsuits you mention held up the project so that the flim flam guy didn't have to start. If that suit had not been filed, he would have had to show he could perform. And he couldn't. Instead we elected the "Save Our Beach (Casino) crew, Mulvehill, Jennings and Golden, who immediately fired Greater Bay causing the second lawsuit, the one that might have cost us $20 Million.

Like Squires states above, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

And you guys conveniently skew the facts and re-write history to your point of view.

Greater Bay was always about scamming this city. We had a commission that NEVER READ THE DAMN LEASE, never did its D&D on Greater Bay and its principals and consequently got us involved in two lawsuits. Ask Retha Lowe who signed it. This commission paid them $1.6 million to get out of their hair in a lawsuit they would have won. You put a lot of emphasis on the word IF.

It does not NEGATE the fact that Hudson was premature holding its meeting. It's too bad that they didn't ask John Szerdi but I'm glad it was revealed and what they want to do at our public beach. Not cool.

This was NOT an election ploy at all but a revelation of how sneaky this city is by having an ITN to begin with and all information withheld from the public. Hudson spilled the beans. And McVoy, an elected official never knew what they were up to until he was asked to attend by a condo owner there. Right place; right time.

Sneaky stuff out of the Sunshine is such a bitch when yu get caught, isn't it?

Just exactly did who catch who doing? Breaking a "cone of silence"?

The ITN is published. Not quite a secret. McVoy wanted to be appointed to the review committee. Looks like sour grapes to me.

Lynn Anderson said...

The Cone of Silence is Szerdi's term about it all.
Out of the Sunshine and no one was allowed to discuss it.
NO ONE, anonymous, knew what Hudson Holdings was presenting to this commission.
IT IS ALL A SECRET TO THE PUBLIC AND TO MCVOY.
What don't you understand here?
A picture wouldn't help you.
Did you pass 3rd grade????????????
Where is the guy who always called me obtuse?
