Serge might be a nice guy, I don't know, never met him. Takes a good picture. He's a part-time pastor, so I assume he's a basically "good person" morally & ethically.
Yes, we need a representation of color on the commission, no doubt. (Esp in District 1 --hello Scott) But not a puppet. The last thing we need is another Retha! Please.
My main problem: Serge is endorsed by people I don't trust, so it's hard to take him seriously as a candidate.
How can you trust the "bully pulpit" run by a majority commission who seeks to find someone (ANYONE) to fill their dais so they can win every vote 5-0 with little or no discussion in sunshine?
This is a majority commission of mostly NON ELECTED (Zero Votes) people-in-office with everything to gain professionally & financially, but they don't give a flying F**K what the average public thinks or wants. Not only do they NOT care or listen, they actually sling hateful language from the dais at anyone who disagrees with them. --Listen to the meetings!
The current majority commission (and their hired staff, subject to being fired "at will") are so boldly confident that they (the elite) are right & the average people (voters) are wrong, they refuse to follow official election results --not once, but twice. (Heights Amendment & General Obligation Bond.)
Gotta give 'em credit for "balls" but minus a lot of points for lack of "ethics" -- not to mention empathy or compassion. Or even common sense!
Even in the dark days of the 80s & 90s (Romano, Ramiccio & Mac & Bo & Co.) they pretended to care & smiled & nodded politely before they voted against what "the average guy" actually wanted & needed. (Because they "knew better" than us, and if it just happened to benefit them financially, so be it.)
Face it, 4 out of 5 on the current commission have an overall goal: complete control, with no oversight. Can you imagine if 100% of the US Congress were of the same party? Or all conservative or all liberal. --NO BALANCE-- That's what the current "majority" commission wants. 100% control of our city!
Welcome to Lake Worth: All for one (if you're an insider) and none for the average guy who disagrees.
Meanwhile, if you live West of the tracks, we are happy tear down YOUR cottages & turn YOUR property over to the US government & get grant money for the poor (that we'll use however WE decide is best) as long as we have the entitled life we want & profit making "potential" that we & our cronies determine is best. If we turn the public-owned beach private (or exclusive-for-pay) --all the better. Making money is what matters, right? Forget Delray, move over Palm Beach.
On the other hand, I do know one thing for sure: Christopher McVoy.
He is, without a doubt, the smartest, most honest, hardest working guy around. (In LW, in FL, the US, the world.) Seriously. He's is one of the most un-selfish, ever-giving human beings I have ever met. Only by the extreme urging of others did he even run for office in the first place. But once he saw how much he was needed, once he was in office (for better or worse) he refused to back down on his principles, or even stand down to bullies. Like Ghandi & ML King (for example), Christopher is a smart pacifist, but he's not a wimp and not a loser!
Thank you, Dr. McVoy, for your honest and dedicated service to our community.
Thanks for the above post. Very well done. Just one thing--Serge is not a nice guy. He attacked McVoy throughout this process--words right out of the mouth of Scott Maxwell. Serge should have done his homework.
