The City moans all of the time that they can't take care of this city...they just can't take care of maintaining anything that we own. Why do we pay these guys to do a job?

As everyone knows, the city had $50,000 of taxpayer money to promote their want/need money grab. John Szerdi is now saying he supported the bond but would consider a smaller scope...for $63.5 million for road and infrastructure repair. What does "consider" actually mean? Is he listening to the 50% who defeated this bond? Doesn't he get what the people told him at the polls? The initiative failed last August by 25 votes. The city now is getting ready to bring the bond back for a vote. Of course they haven't told the residents or any details yet nor have they told commissioner McVoy who is always kept out of the loop with this administration.

McVoy is in the loop, he's just fuzzy on the facts.
McVoy has NEVER been in the loop and this commission bullies him all of the time.
A city employee now controls what the citizens get to vote or not vote on ? What the shizzzz !!!!!!!the city manager needs to fire this woman.
Lynn, the accusations you are presenting are patently false. Please stick to FACTS
No, I'm not the one who writes lies. There is nothing in this blog that is false. Get a grip and stop the lies. Click on the links and read the articles.
Hey Pam Lopez, don't you feel like crap always having to lie and take the fall for this Commission? ANYBODY that is stupid enough to believe that a city clerk would do this on her own is a couple of beers short of a six pack.
Lynn,
If you were a city commissioner what would be the top five things you would do to improve the city and turn it into a fully functional money making machine that helps its citizens? It seems like you have it all figured out. Please enlighten me...
I'm not a commissioner...but one thing for sure that is never fully addressed even though you passed 44 ordinances dealing with code issues, we are STILL full of slum, blight and abandoned houses that breed a lot of crime! That should be a focus--an important one. We spend 2/3'ds of our budget on public safety. Let's get some bang for that buck.
I don't trust any of these candidates, but I agree crime and code are most important issues. Money of the candidates have even really talked about crime and PBSO and how we can get better enforcement
Lynn,
Your quick to find the problems but still no solutions. What would be your plan of action for these problems you pointed out? It seems like if there was no blight or crime you would have no content to blog about. The City needs to generate more income in order to make improvements. What would you suggest to make more money for the city? I think a convention center on the beach would be incredibly cool for our city and its surrounding areas! We need to maximize our potential.
Actually, I'm not "quick to find the problems." They are all over the place.
Let the economy take off on its rebound. Stop rushing into things that always seem to go south. Live within our means. Stop handing our city on a silver platter to every developer who wants to bite us.
I think commercializing our beach any further would be a travesty. So your cool is not my cool.
If there was no blight or crime I still would have plenty to write about---corruption just does not go away. You wolud still be putting up illegal banners somewhere...that sort of thing.
Lynn,
The city will not improve by taking no action and waiting for the economy to improve. That's exactly what our old city commission did for years. It's like keeping an eagle in its cage and never allowing it to soar. Having fun at a pool is great I love to swim, but providing jobs and feeding families is the responsible thing to do. All while receiving tax revenue to make improvements for our wonderful residents. In the end we are here to survive first then swim. Also if I want to Swim I have the most beautiful beach in the world at my fingertips. Prefer surfing myself. Whether change happens tomorrow or fifty years from now it will happen. I say buckle up and enjoy the ride! You might enjoy it!
