Juan to Walk the Talk

Miami Dade InterAmerican Campus
Located in the Latin Quarter, Miami

Now we have four activists who are immigrants (legal and illegal) who will be walking from Miami to Washington, DC, rain or shine, in order to draw attention to their cause—a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants and those children brought here by illegal immigrants. They want to call attention to the "rights" of illegals. They are sick and tired of the government treating them like interlopers.

Nice cause. I don’t blame these people for wanting to stay here. The leader of the group is Juan Rodriguez, President of his student body at Miami Dade College’s InterAmerican Campus. His gripe: He was an honor student. His grades slipped slightly in high school when it suddenly dawned on him that he would not be able to get a decent job in this country and that he would end up a "janitor" or a "gardener" because he had no documents. Boo hoo.

Ah gee, Juan. As smart as you are, you didn’t know how to become a citizen? You never inquired? You had no thirst for knowledge in that regard? Your stepmother stepped up to the plate for you. She showed you how to become a U.S. citizen last year. Don’t forget to take her on that 1,373 mile walk with you.

Juan should be using all his new found education and mentor people on how to become U.S. citizens. Put some of it to good use. Stop demanding and griping and wearing out shoes by walking the walk and instead, do some talking.

City of Lake Worth to be a party to Juan's Dream
