Eighteen of the 24 Lake Worth Community High School students who were the first from the school to take the EKG (electrocardiogram) certification exams have successfully passed! The students---who participate in the school’s Medical Magnet CHOICE program-- took the industry certification exams shortly before the end of the year.
These students---many of them bilingual-- were certified by the National Healthcareer Association. Those who pass the exam are recognized as a nationally certified Allied Healthcare professional. In addition to adding to their credentials, passing this industry certification allows them to work as a Certified EKG Technician (CET).
Principal Dr. Ian Saltzman said the achievement is a plus for the students---and our healthcare profession. “These young people have now gained a professional certification they can use in the labor market right now---and they’re still in high school,” he said. “In addition, our community benefits because Palm Beach County now has 18 more people who are certified to work in a growing industry.”
