Memorial for Lawrence T. Anderson
Today I met the sweetest person, Alica Anderson, widow of Lawrence Anderson. Larry was a Lake Worth High graduate and some of his school buddies were there, one coming down from Tallahassee. They say that number 3 is the charm--Larry and Alicia were married for 40 years. What a feat! Friends and family gathered at the South Florida National Cemetery for a tribute to Larry and then all were invited to the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Dennis Dorsey. He will be missed by all.

District Court of Appeals has surprise ruling
One of the homosexual movement’s greatest successes was making it
illegal for straight folks, primarily Christians, to adhere to anti-gay
convictions.
Now, a federal court is taking away that success by permitting businesses to deny service to gay couples.
From The Daily Caller:
The U.S. Court of Appeals, 5th circuit struck down a district court’s injunction against the law, which now allows business owners to refuse to serve gay, lesbian, or transgender couples on grounds of religious objection and also permits clerks to refuse to issue marriage licenses to LGBT couples.
Foster care and adoption agencies can also choose to reject potential LGBT parents under this law, according to an AP report.
The court’s decision is a big win for the protection of religious liberties, according to Kevin Theriot, attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom, which helped write the bill.
Some argue that turning away homosexuals makes it more difficult to be a positive witness to them.
But most would agree that the law must not force Americans to participate in a movement or lifestyle with which they disagree.

Supreme Court Rejects Appeal on Concealed Weapons carry
The U.S. Supreme Court has once again ruled against the Second
Amendment by refusing to loosen restrictions on carrying a gun in
public.
SCOTUS rejected an appeal that was made by gun-rights advocates in California that would’ve allowed folks to carry a concealed weapon without needing to show a special reason for doing so.
According to Bloomberg, Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch said the high court should have heard the case.

Kate's Law and anti-Sanctuary City Law passes in the House
"Kate’s Law, named after Steinle, would impose a two-year prison sentence on illegal immigrants who have been deported or denied admission to the U.S., but who sneak back in anyway. The goal, backers said, was to try to root out repeat-illegal immigrants who are responsible for a striking string of high-profile crimes.
It cleared on a 257-167 vote, and even garnered support of two dozen Democrats.
The anti-sanctuary city bill, meanwhile, would guarantee local police the ability to work with immigration agents and would curtail lawsuits against communities that do cooperate with Homeland Security. That bill was approved on a near party-line vote, 228-195."

Florida Schools improve
"Over
half of Florida’s public schools received an “A” or “B” letter grade
for the 2016-2017 school year, according to a new report released
Wednesday from the Florida Department of Education.
This year’s letter grades represent a slight uptick in the number of “A” and “B” letter grades, up from 46 percent last year.

Oliver noted that if President Obama was accused of being out of touch with the American people during his presidency, “I’m not sure he’s ever been more out of touch than he is right now.”

Sober Home bill was signed by Governor
Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg said, “You will see a lot of the illegal marketing that drives people down
here from other places will start to dry up — the free plane tickets and
exaggerated claims, you’ll see far less than that. That
could mean you’ll see fewer out-of-state patients than you see today,
where 75 percent of all the individuals in recovery are from out of
state.”

Anarchist group forms
On June 11th, 2017 an Antifa group met members of the Haymaker collective in Chicago. They claim that their group is anti-fascist and anti-racist. They referred to their upcoming gym as a “popular fitness and self-defense” because of the rising Alt-Right and white nationalism of those who supported Donald Trump and those who want to make America Great Again. They said that they couldn’t address all the self-defense needs of the city; anyone can join as long as you are not a cop or a conservative and they were already in conversations with queer & Muslim trainers who wanted to use the space to provide self-defense lessons to their communities. Sanctuary City bill and Kate's Law to be signed by President Trump
Yesterday, Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary said that President Donald Trump is looking forward to signing two bills designed to curb illegal immigration.
The House is expected to vote on both the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act and Kate’s Law at the end of this week.
If you recall, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, an undocumented immigrant and repeat felon from Mexico who'd been deported five times, is accused of shooting Steinle in the back, a 32-year-old medical device sales rep, as she walked on a San Francisco pier with her father. Lopez-Sanchez said it was an accident.

Motorcyclist interrupts Anti-Trump protest
On Wednesday, a group of anti-Trump protesters attempted to launch a protest against the president by lying in the middle of a San Francisco street. The act was a “die-in” to protest Trump’s healthcare plans by lying in the middle of the road outside the San Francisco Federal Building. Things took a shocking turn when a motorcyclist approached the building.

Quote of the Day - Mike Huckabee
“And when rhetoric goes to that level, I think it makes the parties look
silly. It sort of reveals they don’t have an argument,
they can’t discuss the merits of a piece of legislation or a proposal,
so they’re reduced to the most childish form of political rhetoric,
which is to say, ‘You’re a bad person. You’re going to kill somebody.’
It’s so over the top; it’s just absurd.”

Supreme Court lifts injunctions on Trump Travel Ban
[NWI.com] The Supreme Court is letting the
Trump administration mostly enforce its 90-day ban on travelers from six
mostly Muslim countries, overturning lower court orders that blocked
it.
The action Monday is a victory for President Donald Trump in the biggest legal controversy of his young presidency.
The court did leave one category of foreigners protected, those "with a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States," the court said in an unsigned opinion.
The justices will hear arguments in the case in October.
Trump said last week that the ban would take effect 72 hours after being cleared by courts. The ban would apply to citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
The Trump administration said the ban was needed to allow an internal review of the screening procedures for visa applicants from those countries. That review should be complete before October 2, the first day the justices could hear arguments in their new term.

"North Korea murdered Otto Warmbier and a fierce response is needed, says a prominent expert on China and North Korea.
But he warns the increasingly belligerent actions of the communist regime are a result of the U.S. failing to hold it accountable for more than two decades.
Earlier this month, North Korea released Warmbier after imprisoning him for 16 months. He spent the vast majority of that time in a coma and died just days after returning to Ohio. North Korea claimed Warmbier’s coma stemmed from a bout of botulism and that he was released on humanitarian grounds." Doctors say no botulism was found.

The board’s job, which pays no salary, is to advise a slew of agencies, including the South Florida Water Management District and U.S. Corps of Engineers, on a project to build locks on canals between Delray Beach and Lake Okeechobee.
