@7:08..I decided to post your highly insensitive comment. We sure have a lot of boors in this city.
Moving the city forward is a Trio expression.

Quite a number of buildings for sale in the city. Did they hear something from Commissioner Maxwell that we don't know? A lot of businesses are scrambling as their buildings are sold EXCEPT of course for COMMISSIONER ANDY AMOROSO! Perhaps if the new owner doesn't want code problems they better give Amoroso a sweet deal?

Very sadly the comment from 7:08 illustrates too well the official message from the majority commission on most matters where human values are concerned. Thanks for printing this beautiful obit on one of those pillars our community was built on. How inhuman have we become when the passing of a man like this, a respected businessman for that many years in the center of Lake Worth, when his death can be tossed aside with a coldly creepy comment about "moving forward."

Please don't be confused by the above ugly ass posting, it as not placed here by the so called 'trio' who have only praised Malcolm as a good man and respected pillar in our community for decades. The ugly person who posted the snide comment only meant to attempt to cast aspersions and vilify.

At the end of the day, the reality is that property changes hands and new owners have the right to not renew leases. And new owners have a full right to execute new leases, like they have done with Commissioner Amoroso. And while it's none of your business, he and all of the new leasers will likely pay more money for their space once the property closes.

If you're heart it's really in the right place for small business owners… Then why no concern for the taco lady? Who has become a fixture in town but is having difficulty finding new space to move to.

Why no inquiry as to why Kerri with '@ the hairnet' chose to leave Lake Worth and relocate her business to the Palm Beach Gardens area? And who knows there may be others leaving as well… and while things are tough enough for all small businesses and as sick as it is, you should know there are those who are actively cheering to see business fail in the downtown corridor. Nice isn't it?

And for what, to now allow office space for several sober home companies to occupy along Main Street? Where are the old timer community activists about that? A few more of these types of businesses and there will be no reason to go downtown! That is, unless you're a drug addict or looking to get into the rehab business.

People, people, people we need to get rid of these drug addicts and losers that are invading our town. They are literally sucking the life out of our town.

These losers offer nothing to our town but misery and financial drain on our merger resources. The only places that they hang out are coffee shops like Starbucks and common ground. These people are not shopping to buy a new dress, buy jewelry, buy new flip-flops, buy chocolates, buy furniture, buy a sandwich, buy dog shampoo, buy a new surfboard - no, they sit around and get free or next to free refills of coffee, smoke in their nasty cigarettes, tossing their butts on the sidewalk, argue and act threatening and rude, aggressively panhandle while waiting for the neighborhood drug dealer to come by and ply his trade with them.

If you have a sober home living next to you or around you you need to be a pain in their ass. You need to call Code all the time. If they make too much noise, if they have too many cars, if they have too many people, if things just don't look right… You need to call PBSO all the time.

Malcolm led a good fight, so did Kerri... They chased drug addicts off their front doorstoops and out of the rear of their building for a long time...sadly, they got tired of it. I'm just sorry the new owners didn't allow Malcolm to finish his career and life doing the thing he loved, visiting with his age old buddies and keeping the men of Lake Worth trimmed and well groomed.

If there is anyone out here who wants the "downtown to fail" as you stated, then they are sicker than anyone living in a sober home could ever hope to be.

So, if you don't like what's happening in our city and in our downtown, get active. Don't blame it on community activists who have gone silent over the past several years, handicapped to do anything as their efforts are shot down or denigrated. Look to our land uses and make the appropriate changes. Insist on it. I am sick of elected officials telling us that they can't do anything. Isn't it their job to solve?

Let's take back our city.

This city allowed too many bars. What do they attract? Twenty somethings using drugs. Who in their right mind wants to visit our downtown? Druggies, panhandlers, propaganda nuts and a few businesses thinking that ruining a country park will bring them some business. I can assure you, no one I know will give you any business. It isn't safe in our downtown with someone walking to their car and getting mugged and robbed and car hijacked. Disgraceful. You officials did this.

yes, trio moving forward with a steam roller taking out anyone standing in their way

Andy did not write the post at 9:27, I did.

And I'm not in anyone's pocket, or beholding to any elected official.

I don't want the increase in sales tax, I want the Braves to come back, but I think there are better locations in the county and I don't want tax money to build a stadium.

I support ALL the businesses in downtown as often as I can. I am not like some people on the JPP preservation Facebook page vowing to boycott businesses who choose to support the Braves or any other cause simply because I disagree with them. It is their right to display whatever they want just as it is Joann Goldens right to display that stupid red sign that means nothing in her yard.

And it's shameful to slander others and attempt to extort or threaten others livelihood and the Lake Worth businesses. At the end if the day you have a right to your opinion and they have a right to theirs.

What in the hell are you going to do when someone opens up a medcal marijuana dispensary in Lake Worth? Never you say... Ha! You don't know squat. It's coming, it'll bring tax revenue and it's bringing jobs!

This isn't any city official's doings... Get your head out of the conspiracy sand.

It's called the free market. It's called someone wanting to invest in property. It's called, if you own it, you get to make the rules and ask for the rent you think you can get. It's called ROI (return on investment) and no one is gonna give Andy or anyone other business a break on rent when they can get more $. Some landlords like that crazy Capt guy with the boarded up restaurant on Lake who ask crazy money and who watch, year after year, their space go empty - and then refuse to sell or rent to someone foolish enough to give him his asking price.

Lynn Anderson said...

It's a total tax write-off for that guy.

Next thing, you don't believe that people can get or do get special favors? We're not Corruption County for nothing. :)
