Crime Lake Worth

Comment Up

This is just a brief snapshot of horrendous crime that's occurring in our city. What is this now? Six shootings in Lake Worth since the beginning of the year? We are averaging more than one a month.

Truth hurts and truth matters. Right, Wes?

It certainly seems that crime has taken a big upswing in the past year. I have to wonder how much of it is due to the huge increase we are seeing in the Sober Home Industry of urine farming for quick profit. I fear we are collecting a newly created homeless population from throughout the nation who completed formal rehab and flunked out of our scuzbag slumlord so called sober homes run for huge profit only. The ones like that down the street from me where a young girl from Maryland just died from OD INSIDE this "sober home." We do not have the means to support or keep creating this new population. With apologies to those who are legitimate and doing their jobs with diligence, until we address this rapidly growing irresponsible and unaccountable industry--I expect both crime and drug use to continue to rise. How else are you going to get $$ when you are far from home, unemployed, and now using again thanks to help from a slumlord sober home??

It's cheaper for us to buy an airplane ticket and ship their sorry asses back to their northern families

crime has been on an upswing for a while in our fine town. the sober homes likely contribute but don't explain the entire problem. FDLE crime stats which still break out city of Lake Worth show crime up 5.5% as of June 2015, most recent numbers. The 2014 numbers showed a crime decrease for us, but 2013 had a huge increase in crime. It will be interesting to see what the rest of 2015 shows, are we in an upward trend its hard to say until 2015 annual numbers come up in June.

They didn't ask for it politely?

@3:50---that sounds so bizarre but then bizarre has become the norm. Is that a true rendition of what happened?

Don't know about being stabbed for their cup of coffee... But I see the druggies and backpackers rummaging in the trash cans on the sidewalks infront of Allstate and Kilwins for used discarded Starbucks cups and then they go get refills for .50 - of course that means the barista physically handles the retuned cup to then refill it... They don't discard it and give you a new cup. And they don't check for the name on the cup, so backpacker Billy presents a cup with a girl named Sue's cup...

I'm tempted to get a dog.

Then I'm gonna collect its poop, and start using those trash cans to dump the poop. It's a new game I'm calling 'Who drinks with poop' where rehabers have to dodge poop on used cups...

Contributing sport fans may find joy in strategically placing their poop donations in specific trash cans, and some will even resort to dumping their poop out of their poop bag so as to sprinkle and disperse chunks of poop in a random oattern, making it even more challenging for the trash divers.

I wonder if that will get the health department to shut down the practice of discounted refills for non-customers.

7:26am a great use for dog poop at last! It would be costly but good to get garbage bins that can't be rifled through. Especially in those areas. The public can refrain from throwing out those cups, take with or tear up first.

SBucks is losing money at that location due to refills. They are also losing customers b/c of the druggies that sit outside and smoke all day and drink refills, they should get rid of the outside seating like they did in Delray. I feel for the poor employees at that location.

Starbucks should halt all refills, end of problem, the paying customers will not suffer from that, after one drinks a 20 ounce coffee no more is needed. Also the Publix on Dixie is a big draw for vermin, they should close down the Western Union and stop selling cigarettes. The creeps frequenting these businesses are a pox on paying citizens.

Maybe Starbucks should ask to see the receipt before giving a refill

No tickey no drinkey
