SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER JOB CODE (1061)
Salary Range: $23.66/hr - $25.00/hr

This position is responsible for the coordination, implementation, marketing and promotion of all City special events, event permitting and event sponsorship coordination. Candidates must demonstrate a successful track record in event planning, marketing planning, sponsorships, as well as proven abilities in public media relations, graphic design or publishing, staff/volunteer/contractor management, and budget accountability. This position must be at ease working in partnerships with other team members in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and execute annual special event marketing plan, including community needs assessment, manage event sponsorship sales and fulfillments; crate, track and analyze advertising and promotional efforts; provide coordination and leadership for special events; manager media relations (print, television, radio, social media) and special event website pages; produce special event proposals, presentations and reports; assist with recruitment and retention of volunteers; and manage special event contracts; Coordinates, plans and implements existing City-wide special events; Responsible for the coordination of the Special Event Temporary Permit request process and ensuring that City wide special event policies and procedures are followed; promotes and advertises events through newspapers, radio and television commercials, flyers, posters, and public service announcements; coordinates staffing and volunteers for events; maintains the special events budget; maintains an updated media list; maintains good relations with all media

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of special event planning principles; objectives and equipment needed in an event plan; knowledge of community dynamics, including civic organizations, programs and special interest groups; ability to develop and stimulate community participation and interest in planned activities through an active marketing program;

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Event Planning, Marketing, Business, Recreation or a related field; minimum of five (5) years of implementing, coordinating, and managing special events; experience with program and event flyers creation required

Certifications and Licenses: valid Florida driving license with excellent driving record.

Instead, why not expand the responsibility and the salary for someone whose job description is only management of our casino and beach property who will be responsible for finding a tenant, keeping the premises clean, making sure staff waters where and when necessary and keeps the ballroom fully rented out as well as marketing it. Keep the parking management separate. Is Dottie gone?

It appears so--Dottie Carson WAS the Leisure Services Special Events Manager.

As a Citizen I find it interesting when you look at the Employment section for the City how many vacancies there are especially in the Utility and Finance department and the level of vacancies. Appears our HR department can't clean house quick enough. Good luck getting qualified people once the word gets out about her.
