We continue to hear the same old line that Lake Worth hasn't had any development in years and the insinuation from our politicians is that it's the fault of past commissions instead of the economy. A roads infrastructure plan involving humongous debt to the taxpayers is this commission's answer to the lack of development in Lake Worth. They believe that new roads will increase property values and developers and investors will want to come. They are also asking you to pay for the infrastructure for developers at the Park of Commerce, spending $11 to $17 million.
As the demographics are essentially the same, the differences between Greenacres and Lake Worth are--they have their own police force, they do not have a utility subsidizing their operating budget and they don't have a beach.

Greenacres, has experienced the exact same economy as Lake Worth, as has nearly every city across our country. The property value in Greenacres was cut in half just like ours. It's been over 6 years since their last development. They have a developer who will build three or four bedroom houses that are upscale and that developer will be paying for his own roads, etc. Stefan Hoyer plans to build Verona Estates consisting of 53, three and four-bedroom homes that will start at $249,000.
What is Lake Worth doing? Building affordable rentals on the railroad tracks as well as in the Park of Commerce, a piece of land that should have been for industrial and commercial property. In Lake Worth, it's anything for the buck--the possibility of increasing the tax base is the most important consideration.

THIS commission has allowed more low income housing into our city than any other commission in our history. THIS commission has not gotten to the bottom of the utility finances. What has THIS commission done to boost it's business corridors on Dixie and near the railroad tracks (oh yeah,allowed the CRA to build low income rentals there).How much property has THIS commission given away ? THIS commission has looked to the future and not just patching and putting bubble gum on our long neglected problems. THIS commission has instituted programs that are increasing property values more the any other city of our value in Palm Beach County. THIS commission has hired an Internal Auditor who has uncovered lots of problems and made recommendations which THIS commission has followed. Whether you vote to give THIS commission the money to carry out a long range plan to improve our neglected infrastructure and add 170 fire hydrants to our water system keeping your neighbors safer and reducing their insurance costs is up to you. It won't get done on its own.
Now the talking points are "safety" and "lower insurance rates "? We're not safe unless we hand over 131,000,000 over the next THIRTY years?!? What complete B.S. Where is the money that we should have now ? Just WHAT was the internal auditors report about the utility? And don't hold your breath for any truth to come out. This auditor works for the city and knows where his bread is buttered. Go on some more tax payer funded trips !!!

No, anonymous at 9:27. Realizing that you are one challenged little person living in this city, the condos out here are not for low-income housing. Their values dropped just like 68% of the city's. So, take your smart aleck remarks somewhere else...over to the bully blog would be a starter and don't come here.
In which location could a developer build 53 homes in Lake Worth? If any builder tried to build large expensive 3 and 4 bedrooms homes anywhere in Lake Worth you and the rest of the naysayers would be screaming bloody murder.
That low income housing project you hate so much? The buildings look 100% better than what you live in.

This city needs more expensive housing, not more affordable rentals because all that does is bring the city down as a whole. But you knew that. You get your jollies off personally attacking me and where I live.
