Commission Travel and Training budget

The new Budget began on October 1, 2013. Your representatives keep spending your money and now, they are over their budget of $15,000 a year for travel. They already spent over $6,000 in November going to Seattle for the League of Cities.  It makes you wonder for whom this benefits.  We are only 4-1/2 months into this budget year and they already have spent it all. The above travel totals $10,610.56 and none of them have given a report--they all feel entitled with their excuses that it really is for the greater good. But we haven't been told what that is.

A typical dinner here is anywhere from $16 to $26
 and $10 for a glass of wine according to PJ Clarke's.

PJ Clarke's DC is located just down the street from the White House and is known for its vibrant mix of locals and politicos. It opened in 2010.

You are right, City Commission travel expenses are way out of hand!
Didn't we learn anything from the waste of tax dollars by former commissioner Suzanne Mulvehill and her trip to Europe!!

Although the entire commission voted and approved of Ms. Mulvehill's speaking engagement out of the country with a side to attract European travel here, this commission has hidden their travel from the public by making a resolution to that effect.

When it comes to politics, it is always the other guy doing the dirty, not you.

Because Politics is what it is in LW, there will be no more comments accepted on former commissions and their travel and the attempt to change the narrative. This has been answered on numerous occasions. Thanks.

These Commissioners need to give a report on just how their trips have benefitted the people of Lake Worth.
They also need to inform the people in advance of their trips- i.e. "I'm going to place "X" because "Y" will help Lake Worth". Since no reports have been given, it's fair to speculate on why these trips were taken in the first place. It seems they are nothing more than mini vacations and a chance to push personal future political aspirations.What have the people of Lake Worth gained from these trips? NOTHING .

I'm not one who thinks that all travel should be banned, but I did notice a couple of things that I thought was odd. First, we should not be sending two commissioners to the same event. One person can go and then report back. Second, three trips for Maxwell in three months, that seems excessive under any analysis. Finally, wining and dining on the tax payer dime. I travel for work myself and technically I could get reimbursed for all expenses from these trips, but if I go out for a nice dinner with a friend in a city I'm visiting, to me that is a personal expense not a travel expense. Same thing for alcohol, unless I'm dining with a client alcohol is not a travel expense. That's just me, but if I worked for a city with no money, I probably would not ask the city tax-payers to pick up the cost of my fancy dinner.
