Contradictions of Socialism
The six contradictions of socialism in the United States of
America first appeared in March 2009.
- America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
- Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
- They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
- Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
- The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
- They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Lake Worth Officials and their "cute tricks"

Deborah Andrea is the best in fulfilling public information requests. However, to get anyone at city hall to act on any other request that might have to go to a staff member to respond, is sometimes like pulling teeth...think Utility. There are some exceptions to this--Steve Carr was the absolute best at answering questions and he is virtually gone with his last day on January 4. He will be missed. You can also count on others such as William Waters to answer questions as well as our former Code Enforcement Manager, Raquel Diaz. She is also missed.
And then there's our top administrator along with our legal eagles who are delightful people but to get anything answered?..they honestly do not believe that they have to bother answering a question from Joe Public..too busy, I guess. They answer to the commission and the commission never really answers the public directly on anything. Cute trick and they are getting away with it. What's even worse than that--Joe Public is allowing it.
As we no longer get any city manager weekly report or any report even at city commission meetings (although there is always a place on the agenda for it), and we seldom get a report from the city attorney, the public is being kept in the dark by the only ones who should have the answers to certain questions. They are treating public information on a "need to know" with them calling the shots.
Case in point:
On January 7 there is a behind closed doors meeting that the city will have on two legal cases and then go over all the litigation matters. There was back-up to this. Someone removed it. Now I can't get it. Why not? This is all public information. The only thing that is not public is what they discuss or what decisions they make on these legal matters while they are open cases. There are tons of cases and now they don't want us to know about them.

City Commission - 2014
January 7, 2014--Minutes--Agenda & Staff Reports -- Full Version
All the crazy stuff and give-aways of public property have been well planned in advance. You would think that the commission ran on the slogan, "We need change" but who would have suspected the outcome? Take the cutting down of the 75 year-old Banyan tree at the Cultural Plaza. They said, "oh, that was a mistake." There is no way that anyone would believe that was accidental...but they want you to. The tree has now been replaced by the look-alike FAO Schwarz bear, getting ready for our historical City Annex to become an arts center.

Break-In Reported
*UPDATE--SEE BELOW
Comment Up
It has been reported to this blog that there has just been a break-in at 112 N. L Street. Supposedly the PBSO is looking for what has been described as a homeless man, (how do they know he's homeless?) white, with a Mohawk hair cut and tattooed.
If this report is true, this is owned by the Lufty's who own the closed Cottage restaurant.
*It was checked out and it is the residence of Commissioner Amoroso. The PBSO caught the guy who stole something from his yard, not the interior of the dwelling. Commissioner Amoroso has filed a formal complaint against the thief.

The Claremont United Methodist Church, in Claremont, California, allowed this nativity scene to be erected on church property depicting Trayvon Martin. Is it freedom of expression or blasphemy or should we just chalk it up to "It's just kooky California."
Its creator of this "nativity" scene interjected politics into the celebration of the birth of Jesus by erecting this as well as a plaque placed in front of the Nativity scene that said “A child is born, a Son is given." He said that there is no better time to reflect on gun violence then advent, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Jesus was born into a state of total vulnerability as an innocent, unarmed child during a time of great violence much like Trayvon Martin.

Report code violations
It's bad enough with messy pick-up trucks full of junk that are not covered and that are parked in a residential neighborhood, but a commercial vehicle parked in your driveway? This is against city code and this property owner will get a Notice of Violation from the City.
If more and more of you would call code, we might be able to get this city cleaned up one of these days.
The Homeless
Comment Up
Back in the 1980's during Ronald Reagan's term, there was a lot of attention given toward the homeless in America by the left media and liberal Democrats. You would read about it every day, accusing Reagan of actually inventing "homeless." Since the Clinton administration you rarely hear about the homeless and their deplorable problems. The liberal left have been virtually silent. According to government data, the number of homeless has gone down.
Now even the homeless are disgusted with Obama wondering why he wants to give amnesty to 11 to 33 million illegals along with healthcare, you name it, when all they want is a roof over their heads. They want their problems to go away. Obama is sending billions to other countries...what about something done about the homeless in America.

Rick Scott on Pensions
Governor Rick Scott, not only an advocate for smaller
government, but also a leader and manager who knows that retirement costs in Florida are unsustainable.
He
instituted, along with the Florida legislature, policy that requires Florida state employees to contribute 3 percent of their
salaries toward their retirement fund. He is leaning towards the elimination of
the traditional pension plan for new public employees and instead offer
them a retirement plan similar to 401(k) programs used in the private
sector. This is good, sound policy.
Unions didn't like it nor did Democrats but Scott eventually won in court in what some say is a rare legal victory. The State's Supreme Court, in a 4/3 decision, upheld a 2011 law that reduced state employees' earnings by 3 percent and they must contribute to their retirement. Read the ruling for Scott v. Williams here.

City of Lake Worth - Notice of General Election
NOTICE is hereby given that a General Election will be held in the City of Lake Worth, Florida, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, (with a Run-Off Election on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, if necessary), for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Commissioner from District #1 and Commissioner from District #3, each for a two (2) year term.
Persons seeking election may qualify with the City Clerk from noon, Tuesday, January 28, 2014, until noon, Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
Two years ago Capt. Silva of District 14, the district that covers Lake Worth, was to draft letters to banks that own vacant properties in the city to make them aware that their properties are harboring criminals. How did that go? We still have massive slum and blight that brings crime.
We need people to step up to the plate and run for office. We can't continue to allow incumbents to run unopposed especially when the condition of our city is growing worse. We have a commission spending money like we have it and conjuring up a long-term debt (we can't print money like the Feds), and giving away public owned buildings for arts. Some of our employees still work out of trailers and this commission has visions of spending multi-millions of dollars on a new city hall. Their attitude is "there is no time like the present," or one we hear a lot, "We can no longer kick the can down the road."
Some of the things they have proposed (some not voted upon by the commission but silence is acceptance) and are diligently working on now:
This is a republic with democracy, not a dictatorship and the people are not serfs. Votes should count and voices must be heard, correct decisions must be made and the people should be allowed to weigh in. Contracts must be understood before execution. Details can't be hidden from the public or covered-up. We can no longer afford Nancy Pelosi moments (we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it). Who is running our city?
“Government is like a baby: an alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.”

War on Religious Freedom in the Military
Fleming Amendment is adopted - June 5, 2013
The House Armed Services Committee adopted an amendment by Rep. John
Fleming (R-LA) to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The
Fleming Amendment protects the rights of armed services members to hold,
act upon, and practice freely their religious beliefs as long as they
do not interfere with any Constitutional liberties of others.
President Obama "strongly objects" to Fleming Amendment - June 11, 2013 On June 11th, after the House Armed Services Committee approved its version of the NDAA (H.R.1960) with Rep. Fleming's language, a White House Statement of Administration Policy was issued indicating that the President's senior advisers would recommend a veto because they strongly object "to section 530, which would require the Armed Forces to accommodate, except in cases of military necessity, 'actions and speech' reflecting the 'conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs of the member,'...[and which] would have a significant adverse effect on good order, discipline, morale, and mission accomplishment."

Quote of the Day - Charles Krauthammer
"The middle and upper middle class ...are being asked to
subsidize anybody up to 3 times over the poverty line. This is a huge transfer of wealth that was always in the bill, it was
never anything that couldn't have been seen, but the media and most analysts
and of course, Democrats were uninterested in looking at it at all. This is a huge tax on the middle class, but Obama posed as
a defender of the middle class against the very rich."
~ Charles Krauthammer
Speaking to the 20 new taxes in Obamacare that will begin next year and will amount to a $trillion dollars a year. "The costs people are paying out are huge," he said.

Heights - Commission Insolence
We all get trounced upon--not only nationally but at the local level where decisions hit us right between the eyes at a much more personal level.
The city commission wants what it wants. Seldom do they ever contact other citizens to get a feel to what they are thinking. We had an election in March and they said, "so what?" They don't have time to return phone calls or e-mails or just plain don't think they need to. They insulate themselves with their core group and they feel safe in their decisions. They admit that we are a city poorer than dirt and then turn around and nearly demand that every taxpayer in the city go along with their wish list consisting of horrendous debt possibly for 30 years on roads infrastructure. They want to develop the Park of Commerce and as such, want the citizens to pay for acquiring the land and the infrastructure for developers! Also, they rely on the fact that few in this city really know what in the hell is going on and believe that those who oppose them just are uninformed with few brain cells or are being used as "tools." They also like to blame past commissions for everything.
The most flagrant example of insolence was on the heights election--"based on the City Attorney’s opinion of July 2, 2013 on the recent changes to the Florida Statutes regarding citizen initiated referenda, the revised LDRs include provisions for a Hotel Overlay District east of Federal Highway in the Downtown Zoning District. The overlay district allows for a six (6) story, sixty-five foot (65’) building if a fifty (50) room hotel is included as part of the project as well as satisfying the requirements of the Sustainable Bonus Incentive Program."

Obama threatened Egypt and warned them if they didn't hand over power to the Muslim Brotherhood they would lose billions in United States aid. Not only that, Obama tried to save Morsi when most of Egypt wanted him out of there. The people marched against Morsi.
You would have thought that Obama would have taken notice. He never did. He stopped military aid for throwing the Brotherhood out of power and hurt the Egyptian people. Obama stood with the enemy of freedom.
He never learned in Syria either when he gave an additional $300 million in aid but he said it was not to help the rebels some of whom were the Muslim Brotherhood.
Today, Egypt's leaders have declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group and said, "It only knows violence as a tool."

According to the Employment Policies Institute, the following is a list of states and counties that will be implementing a minimum wage increase next week . Those in favor say that by raising the minimum wage, it will generate economic growth. Those opposing it say that small businesses will suffer and people will have a harder time finding jobs.
It looks like SeaTac is the city in which to live especially if you work at the airport. Transportation and hospitality workers there who total around 6,000, will have their minimum wage raised by 63%. Those who put fuel in jets are now fueling the fire for higher minimum wages for all unskilled workers that could catch on in cities across America.
SeaTac is home to over 900 licensed businesses, nearly 80 of which are "Fortune 1000" companies. These entities employ nearly 40,000 employees in the City of SeaTac and generate total local sales of approximately $3.7 billion. Wikipedia. With the minimum wage rising by that much, even though it would pertain only to a particular set of workers, you can well imagine how this will affect prices and the push for all workers across the board in all industries to have an increase that is comparable. The unions will make sure of it. This will set the tone for a national conversation on hiking the minimum wage in every state...it is the can of worms.
With a population of 27,000 in 10 square miles and 2,682 people per square mile in SeaTac, the average family income is right at $50,000 a year. This city has similar demographics to Lake Worth and many illegal aliens; they just have higher incomes. An illegal alien just needs a Mexican or Guatemalan ID and a garbage bill to obtain a driver’s license in Washington State. So, SeaTac is raising the minimum wage, thanks to the big push by the Unions that will scarf all these people into their fold, to raise the standards of living for the illegal alien and unskilled worker.
A great article written by Daniel Martin Gray of the Washington Times says, "Eleven million admitted illegal aliens is almost 4 percent of total American population. How many millions of new citizens voting big government benefits for themselves would it take to entirely overwhelm the rest of us? Where is the demographic tipping point that makes America a one-party, tin-pot, third-world despotism? Concentrated in cities with corrupt voting practices, would anyone but progressives ever win office again?"
This has all been a sneak attack that has escalated in recent years thanks to socialists, liberal Democrats and Obama. Isn't America a great country--land of the free?

Woman accosted at beach
Comment Up
A woman escaped her would be abductor on Christmas Eve while at the lower lot near the Casino at the Lake Worth beach. Read about it.
Some brilliant person tried to comment here that since my residential area was now getting crime that perhaps it was time for me to move. I point out crime so that action can be taken. There's way too much of it and it is hitting all neighborhoods in Lake Worth. Now we can't even go to the beach without the threat of a low life. It's beyond serious. And NO ONE talks about it, not one commissioner. Where's Clint Eastwood when you need him?

Lake Worth Cemetery and back-flow valves
Lake Worth family fighting for water in city cemetery.
Read about how back-flow valves have been stolen and why this man can't get the city of Lake Worth to plant grass over his brother's grave. On November 8, I wrote a blog about stolen back-flow valves, a serious situation in our city that no one is talking about.

Kavasutra wishes Lake Worth the very best
No one can say that this owner, even if he is in prison, isn't working hard advertising his business. The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Lake Worth. I guess someone gave him the word that business has been slow this holiday season and no one is buying e-cigarettes? Of course, snipe signs are illegal. Posting them on poles is also illegal. But this guy likes to put it right out there and push the envelope. Happy Holidays.

The War on Christmas is Real
I have had an enjoyable morning listening to Elvis and Johnny Mathis Christmas CD's, back when Silent Night was sung correctly and one didn't have to worry about all this ridiculous political correctness or rather, incorrectness.
David Bozell says--
The War on Christmas is alive and well.
From South Carolina, to Oklahoma, and up through Washington, the war against Christmas has once again hit a fever pitch. Whether it is the state of Washington banning all holiday decorations from its Capitol building because of pressure from anti-religious groups, or a Houston, Texas–area school banning students from even saying the name "Jesus," religious freedom is being squashed throughout the United States.
A middle school choir in New York has even gone so far as to perform the song "Silent Night" while editing out any Christian references! "Silent Night" is about the birth of Jesus, so to pretend like you can perform the song without any reference to Christianity just goes to show how absurd this war against Christmas has become. We have to stop this! At what point do people realize that simply referencing religious beliefs—whether it be Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or any other—isn't meant to offend others, but to celebrate faith?
Kelly Shackelford, CEO of Liberty Institute, correctly points out that these anti-Christmas moves are not only unfair, they are also unconstitutional. The Supreme Court has ruled time and again that private religious speech on public property is protected by the First Amendment. So don't let anyone tell you the "War on Christmas" isn't real; it is, and it is illegal too!
Add your name to the ForAmerica petition to STOP the War on Christmas!

Famous Presidential Lies
Someone just sent this to me, original author unknown--thought it was well worth re-printing, today or any day--
Famous Presidential Lies:
LBJ: We were attacked (in the Gulf of Tonkin)
Nixon: I am not a crook
GHW Bush: Read my lips - No new taxes
Clinton: I did not have sex with that woman... Miss Lewinski
GW Bush: Iraq has weapons of mass destruction
Obama: I will have the most transparent administration in history.
The stimulus will fund shovel-ready jobs.
I am focused like a laser on creating jobs.
The IRS is not targeting anyone.
It was a spontaneous riot about a movie. (Benghazi)
If I had a son.
I will put an end to the type of politics that "breeds division, conflict and cynicism."
You didn't build that!
I will restore trust in Government.
The Cambridge cops acted stupidly.
The public will have 5 days to look at every bill that lands on my desk
It's not my red line - it is the world's red line.
Whistle blowers will be protected in my administration.
We got back every dime we used to rescue the banks and auto companies, with interest.
I am not spying on American citizens.
ObamaCare will be good for America
You can keep your family doctor.
Premiums will be lowered by $2500.
If you like it, you can keep your current healthcare plan
It's just like shopping at Amazon
I knew nothing about "Fast and Furious" (gunrunning to Mexican drug cartels)
I knew nothing about IRS targeting conservative groups
I knew nothing about what happened in Benghazi
I have never met my uncle from Kenya who is in the country illegally and that was arrested and told to leave the country over 20 years ago
And, I have never lived with that uncle. (He finally admitted on 12-05-2013 that he DID know his uncle and that he DID live with him.
And the biggest one of all:
"I, Barrack Hussein Obama, pledge to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."

Just wait until those rentals on Lake Worth Road and Boutwell are built that are directly across the street from this crime. Of course the other question that comes to mind is, what the heck is someone doing wandering around at 2:43 am?

Sick Satanists - Right in your face

I don't know how it all happened but the bizarre and absurd have taken over traditional thought, decisions and the law. It might just be the liberal courts packed with liberal judges over the past five years. All I know is that common sense has totally been unraveled by fringe or minority groups and liberals.
Take the Satanic Temple as an example. They now want to have an exhibit at our Florida capitol building depicting a fallen angel. The Florida government says it is gross and offensive. Every little weasel is coming out of the woodwork demanding their free expression during the most important religious holiday of the year. The sick perverted minority demand a voice and this is all part of the war on Christianity.
The majority of Americans identify themselves as Christians and about 15–20% have no religious affiliation and include not only atheists but fringe sub groups such as satanists. There are 246,780,000 (79.5% of the Population) who are Christians in the United States.
The Satanist Temple describes itself as "natural aestheticians who revel in the grandeur of human artistic, architectural achievements while also often drawn to the idiosyncratic and bizarre that are all too typically misunderstood, feared, and discarded. With compassion, the Satanic Temple accepts all who are just and compassionate. Though we have far to go before public education leads to a mainstream embrace of our Satanic religion, we feel that our own public “coming out” will go a long way toward raising the consciousness of the populace… and the social environment has never yet been better prepared for the welcoming of a new Satanic era".
What a put-on. Their description of themselves, written by a pseudo-intellectual, just shows what a sick little group this is. I hope that Rick Scott and the State of Florida remain steadfast and do not give in to their threat of a law suit or their bull argument on free speech.
