So if you have some kind of illness or pre-existing condition, one of the deciding factors as to what state you live in will be how they administer healthcare within their borders.
The richest country in the world, where we spend $700 billion a year on defense and $40 billion on a wall, and everyone but the wealthiest of Americans will decide where they live based upon how sick they are.
federal dollars spent on Obamacare would be block-granted to states. Additionally, the individual and employer mandate would be repealed; requirements that health insurers would cover pre-existing conditions would be kept; and the ObamaCare medical device tax would be cut. Other ObamaCare taxes would remain.
It's not about socialism, Lynn. It's about viewing American's healthcare the same way you view your precious pool. People who never dip a toe in it still pay for it because it's a benefit to the community and to the many who do use it.
Same thing with the library. Same with police and fire services.
Quit making this a political football that says that because it was done by Obama it has to be socialism. It's about taking care of all Americans, not just those who have the money to pay for care or live in the right state.
There couldn't be a more Christian or American thing to do than insure that everyone can go to the doctor when he/she needs to and get the care they need.
Another Democratic spin I see. Medicare and Social Security I paid into during my working career and that was a long time. My employer paid into it as well in a match. This benefit was not given to me for free. It is not welfare. When you pay into a program, you call this socialism? It is in the extent that it is controlled by the government rather than private enterprise. I like to call it an annuity. It was not free and was an omnibus act, that created a variety of programs to serve many groups of citizens but mostly those over 65. My healthcare, when I got it through my job, was paid for by my employer and by me. I only had it with two employers. The rest of the time I paid for my own.

You mean like the billions in tax cuts that are given to the wealthy and corporations every year?
Look, having a healthy American public isn't a Republican or Democratic position: it's an American position. It benefits everyone. It makes us a better America and, most importantly, it's the right thing to do.
Uninsuring people, like Cassidy-Graham does, hurts everyone, not just the people who lose their insurance because when those people get sick and can't pay their bills, guess who pays?
The U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the world and our corporations create jobs. By lowering their tax rate, perhaps more people will be willing to work rather than living off the government. Everyone has an entitlement mentality today. When I was without insurance, I paid for my own medical, dental bills.
You can call it an annuity all you want but it doesnt change the fact that they are socialist systems. People pay into socialist systems; that's how they work.

It is not a repeal. A repeal would cost nothing. It is not a replacement, just a shuffling of funds from one pocket to another.
