Excellent article! My hat's off to Christine. All good points and well stated. The Post is looking a bit better to me, printing more than one sided news. Thanks, Lynn.
Absolutely, the fact that they are targeting a park is important. But the better sell to county residents is the corporate welfare angle. Just remember these folks left WPB not too many years ago, and now leaving Orlando, will that $150 million in tax dollars pay off (most stadium studies say no) and they could leave and likely would leave after 20 years or so.
If the county can afford a $150 million in giveaways to a richie rich ball club owner they had better be lowering my tax bill. Why would they need to increase the sales tax for "roads" if they can afford to give $150 million to the Atlanta Braves which is a club valued at $482 million dollars. I could go on and on with these kinds of messages, but that is what needs to get out to the rest of the county.
The article is a farce. There is no way the Braves will use their own money to buy land and build a spring training facility. There are a ton of communities that would give them everything they want for the moniker of being their home away from home. It is a shame, but that is the way it is. The rich get richer.

And for that reason I am voting NO for any increase in taxes!
They can't have my money and they can't have my vote. Sell yourselves to the billionaires, not our park.
