Citizen writes letter to the Palm Beach County Commission about its desire to ruin John Prince Park

Comment Up

To:  The Palm Beach County Commission

The very fact that this county commission is taking a look at ruining a legacy of a past Palm Beach County Commissioner who place Deed Restrictions at the State Level who in turn placed Deed Restrictions at a County Level all of which I have read is a serious threat to public land in Palm Beach County and the whole state of Florida!

Your very behavior to even consider donating and then using the tax payer dollars to build anything other than public park provisions as the vision was for past Commissioner John Prince is an insult to the public and an insult to our founding members of this county.

This is a park for the people and the fact that this is even on the table is proof that you have no concerns for the public in general and will build until we are like Miami/Dade and Broward until we build all the way out to our limits.

This County Commission has no respect for the overall park systems of Palm Beach County and if you find a flat piece of land to build something on that seems to be your only motive.  How do you sleep at night?  I really do not know and I personally place blame on Commissioner Shelly Vana who has been an advocate for land and play grounds but had not one thing to say about John Prince Park.

Commissioner Vana in a conversation with ROLO Vice President at the time stated that John Prince Park was full of homeless people and SHE( Vana) used to run there and was scared.  When Ms. McGiveron reminded that our County Commissioner Vana that the homeless people in John Prince Park was a County Issue and that they needed to address the issue.....County Commissioner Vana in that phone conversation stated.  " If I could piss money all over the place to correct issues I would."

Commissioner Vana, I would suggest if you have that ability that you start pissing as much as you can all over Palm Beach County because we need our parks, we need to do something about the homeless, we need to do something about the Heroin problem and so much more, so if your Piss is that Magical.....Let the Yellow water flow.

Any Destruction of John Prince Park is a Sin against the citizens of Palm Beach County. If  that is your intent as a County Commission to let this happen, then I will pray that before your souls are in Hell you go ahead and build Hotels in every Park in every part of this county.

Sincerely,

Robert E. Waples II

Does he think he's winning friends and influencing people by insulting them?

His letter starts out as a fine example of voicing ones opinion, but taking a personal attach to Commissioner Vans, or any other elected is uncalled for and he loses effectiveness as he loses audience. In paragraph 5 he identifies ROLO but doesn't state exactly what that acronym stands for. - The county commission doesn't know who ROLO is, nor who McGiveron is. Readers unfamiliar with ROLO are certainly not going to take any time to seek that information out… And may consider that artifact to be irrelevant. Perhaps Mr Waplea should re-read or re-edit before hitting send if his wish is to get his message clearly across.

For the life of me I've been looking for the deed restrictions on John Prince. Can anybody help me find them?

This commission just won't get the point any other way but to tell them the truth and use their own words right back at them. that is exactly what Vana said.

They know exactly what ROLO is and they know who Katie McGiveron is as she spoke before them last week on this issue.Maybe you don't know who or what they are?

In order to get the Deed, you will have to go to Palm Beach County and do a freedom of information request or hunt for it on my blog. I already did the work for ya!

To 7:22 am. Yes Lynn already did the work for you as she always does her homework BEFORE she writes her blog. Just look at her blog from March 2016. Lynn's Little Bit of Trivia John Prince Park and click on the deed number and you can read it in it's entirety. You are just trying to make excuses for Vana, Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso once again. JPP was deeded for Park and Forest Services FOREVER.

To 7:22 AM Just in case you want to use the airport as an example, like others did, and land that was used for purposes other than Park and Forest only you can forget that to. Here is the reason it was put there.
Regarding the airport. It was not built to serve people with money.
The airport was built in the 1940's. The US Government and the county reached an agreement on the land and the US Government built the airport for the purpose of Civil Air Patrol and Army Air Force Antisubmarine Command. They were stationed here TO PROTECT OUR CITIZENS. It has only been since the 1990's that the airport has been used for private planes.
It was not built by multi millionaires using land to make more millions. THERE IS A VAST DIFFERENCE HERE.

I agree with the sentiment, but also agree that insulting folks is not the way to go. Make your case, state your opinion. But when you start calling people names and the like, you lose credibility and people, even people who might agree with you, stop listening.

Great letter and I highly agree! How many times can you take public deeded property for private greedy billionaires and try to dress it up as being for the public good?
