In a Nutshell - A Big Win for Obama

Final Vote Results

Even though this passed by a small margin, it is a big victory for Obama. With the vote 220 to 215 involving 1,990 pages, it now goes on to the Senate where Republicans claim that the Democrats are planning a government takeover of the insurance industry to the tune of $1.2 trillion dollars.

This is straight from the Official U.S. Senate Website:

"111th Congress (2009-2011)

Majority Party: Democrat (57 seats)

Minority Party: Republican (40 seats)

Other Parties: 1 Independent; 1 Independent Democrat

Total Seats: 100

Note: Minnesota's class 2 seat remains undecided. Senator Arlen Specter was reelected in 2004 as a Republican, and became a Democrat on April 30, 2009. Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut was reelected in 2006 as an independent candidate, and became an Independent Democrat. Senator Bernard Sanders of Vermont was elected in 2006 as an Independent."

Lieberman said he opposes the public plan because it could become a huge and costly entitlement program. "I believe the debt can break America and send us into a recession that's worse than the one we're fighting our way out of today," he said on Sunday on Fox News.

President Obama wants the Senate to take the baton and run with it but the odds are that the Senate won't because of some moderate Democrats that have the power. How are we going to pay for this? Print more money? It's only paper, right?
