Voter turn-out - Lake Worth Election

Comment Up

According to the Palm Beach Post article, turnout varied in Palm Beach county. The average turnout was at less than 15%. Lake Worth had 16.02%, down 3.84% from the General Election of November when we were electing the governor, etc. This is not unusual. It's also why the City of Lake Worth wanted to put a general obligation bond on the August primary...low voter turn-out believing that they could beat the voters with their war chest paid by the Lake Worth taxpayers. It didn't happen. There were 3,115 voters for the General Obligation Bond referendum, 572 votes more than this March election.

Today the Lake Worth Herald intimated that it was the low turn-out that got McVoy re-elected and Maier elected. Also, the percentages of win were correct. McVoy got 64.33% and Maier got 57.34% of the total votes. The only "wake-up call" is that the "in-crowd" lost this election. They lost for very good reasons and they had every opportunity to get out the vote.

No more excuses.  The best candidates won!

Most citizens west of Dixie have given up being involved because we have been lied to, used and abused by the people who are suppose to look out for us for too long i.e. McVoy. But I'll change that.

They just don't want to believe that very few people trust them anymore.

You lost by 78%. Talk to Scott Maxwell who represents west of Dixie. What has he done for us lately other than screw the voters on the heights election and try to grab $63.5 million. You approve of that, Serge. YOU LOST. Are you ever going to start listening instead of talking?

That is exactly the reason I didnt vote for you Mr.Jerome! You are not focused on solutions and issues in LW. It was obvious you were focused on negativity and ill will for Mr McVoy. It is too bad you arent your own voice instead of the same old politics.

Serge, many citizens feel the same way. It's all over town and definitely west of Dixie. Maxwell is the Rep for the 'other' half of that area - how's he doing? He's been on the Dais 2x and I think he was seated before McVoy as well this time. Why blame one and not both? None of the commissioners stick to their areas. How is the Mayor helping you? She covers ALL LW. I wonder if you ever hear from her at any other time besides an election. I really really hope you do because sign waving w/the other side - well ya learn a lot! We see who the money comes from and who gets paid to help! I asked directly & was told during one election that no one was getting paid to sign wave. Not only did they get paid - one guy who lied to my face was a 'coordinator' and not only got PAID EXTRA - w/in 6 WEEKS the Mayor appointed him to a board position! She empowered herself (along w/the rest of the dais) to destroy previous rep appointments and rebuild all the boards in their own image! She and the Vice Mayor get to pick first on all boards and the ones w/7 members - they get to pick two people!

Serdi made Dumb & Dumber movie comments (more then once - allowed by the Mayor) and 'abused' us too directly from the dais on video! He thought it was a cute analogy but it was damned insulting!

Watch Mr. Maxwell video to the right on this blog where he pretty much says we lie & it's all our fault too!

The rules of procedure allow for 1/4ly forums in each district. I've begged - begged - begged for them to have them - OPEN MIC like when they lost the LW 2020 bond - no time limits - reps just sit & listen & take notes! To cut us out of the conversation as if we were children and to decide for us in all cases because they know better if an insult of the highest form!

The path to bring a greater number of us together is there but then they'd actually have to listen & possibly do what the people they rep want and not what they personally want!

FYI: Szerdi was one of the 5/0 ITN Beach Vote - BEFORE he had to ask Ethics if he had a conflict! For someone who has taken every opportunity to tell us how smart he is - missed this? He actually had to ask - that's beyond scary *
& down right dangerous! It's why we have sunshine laws, no?

McVoy (NAPC debate)caught the conversations w/the Mayor Szerdi had because it wouldn't come to a vote from the dais. Really - where is the crystal ball that told him that?

Politics makes for strange bedfellows but this dais (- McVoy) is dangerous. They have taken away the people's power and redistributed it to unelected unaccountable people. That will bite them in the azz when the dais flips again as it always has and always will!

It made a lot more sense to have our election in Nov, not sure why folks voted in favor of moving it back to March.

...and it increased their time on the dais by 4 extra months
